      now it does indeed....
dit you just fix it, or was there some other reason it didn't show up?

I even searched for it using control-f, but it wasn't there......

Maybe you were logged off that time that you looked. Occassionally when switching pages, I get logged off for some reason and dont even realize it until I try to post.

Considering that the bottom of the image includes his PM information, I can only assume he was logged in

I think it's the server telling CyberShy he's not appreciated.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

The Currently logged in user info is cached for some minutes meaning that it may be slightly "outdated" when shown.

So, we're always looking at outdated info.....
                    what's the use of that?

And indeed, I was logged in as Ming pointed out.
I did include that info on the jpg for a reason, you know

What would you suggest, Cyber? Constant updating, meaning slower performance from settler2?

Is this even an issue at all? I never go down that far on the screen, except occasionally to wander in here.

The logical solution would seem to be to don't have it at all. I'm sure that would decrease the load on the ol' server.

I would say: show it on a seperate page.
If you load that page you see the last action of the users whom's actions occured in the past 10 minutes, and what this action was.

It's not hard to store a last action. That's what I do on several on my websites as well.

I guess the idea is so that, if you recognise someone you want to chat to/PM/continue a discussion with, you know when to do so. And if someone is going on the forum, it's not so likely that they will appear and disappear before the server updates (depending on what the server update time for this actually IS).

                            What's the big deal?
