  • Upload Problem

    Hello,

I uploaded a gif to my upload cache and it decided to "x" out once I uploaded it. I have tried to delete it out of my folder but unfortunately it says "file does not exist" when I hit the delete link. Even though it is not recognized as existing it still does take up the bytes a full image would.

Just wanted to make the problem known and seek some help from Mark when he has time.

    Thanks.

I have a similar problem. #cpulog.txt keeps appearing on my list of uploaded files, but when I try to delete it, the file supposedly doesn't exist.

As Mark said in a PM, upload does not like characters. My file had a "&" in it which probably caused the file server to not recognize the file as valid. A "#" would definately qualify.

        Thanks for your help Mark!

          Hi Maniac.

First, see Harry's relayed explanation above as to the nature of the problem. Second, I have gone ahead and deleted the file in question for you as per implied request.

If anyone else is experiencing a similar difficulty, please submit a trouble ticket request with all pertinent details included for addressing.

Did you try refreshing? I had this issue too, with a file that had an apostrophe in it. It wouldn't show up when I linked to it, so I wanted to delete the file and upload it without the apostrophe. At first it refused to accept the file was there when I tried to delete it (despite the fact I could plainly see it in my uploads!), but a couple of tries later and it worked. File deleted, new one uploaded, image works.

Computers.... just bang your head against them for a bit and they work. And don't asl questions when it does.

It might be an idea to add an algorithm when uploading files which checks for invalid characters such as the ones the delete function is having trouble with.

Less work for our admin in the longrun, methinks.
