I blame fantasy baseball. I think I argued in favor of removing the last IR slot. IIRC we had 2 + a covid slot at first.
Makes for tougher decision making on who to keep and who to drop and making more players available.Comment

I think having one IR slot makes sense. Doesn't cost you a roster slot to hang onto an injured/suspended superstar. Seems fair to me.
But when there are multiple slots open, healthier teams can start using it as a sort of minor league by speculating in injured players for their late-season potential at no cost.
