Hey, it's Opening Day for the American portion of the schedule...huzzah!
Probably another long trudge toward (sigh) another Dodgers title, but hey, the Cubs might actually be improved. Hope springs eternal.

I hate when trades and signings cross my feed on April Fools Day.

Is Anthony Rizzo a St. Louis Cardinal now?

I see a clickbait headline lining saying "to sign" but the article says he would fix the Cardinals first base problem. It's also dated March 31st.

Looks like nothing yet beyond talks, but pundits say it will probably happen.

Seeing the White Sox in first place caught my eye today.
(Actually, what struck me as weird was the 5-way tie for first.)

LOL. But yeah, nice to see them get off to a decent start after the 2 losses in Japan.

MLB Commissioner lifts lifetime ban on Shoeless Joe, Pete Rose and others. I have always said it should only apply during their liferime.

This change is just the easy way out. Positive PR is created, aggrieved fans pacified at last. Which is, I guess, fine. But MLB has spent literally over a century being all holier-than-thou when it comes to gambling, with no quarter given, even for legal gaming in public. Across the same time, they turned a blind eye to domestic violence, racism and, until Curt Flood, treating their players as property. So forgive me if I'm not too excited.

My cynical side says this is just kowtowing to MAGA World, knowing Trump will approve the move (and will probably take credit for it) and thus won't see any need to threaten their legalized monopoly.

This is a sport that repeatedly and uniformly allows the richest owners operate without guardrails, ensuring that the biggest markets get the lion's share of championships by simply outspending the so-called competition. That is not, in any realistic sense, sporting. Unsurprisingly, I see they're not addressing that.

But hey, at least we can now openly cheer for the cheaters, knowing the occasional purchase of an umpire's call, managers gambling on games, and even cheating on the World Series (looking at you, Astros), will all be judged as A-OK in the long run.

Looking forward to Pete and Shoeless Joe entering the HOF, no doubt to be followed closely by Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, and their chemically dependent friends.

It's fine. They were only ever competing (in the sense of trying to out-cheat each other) for just a piece of metal.
