He'll [Boldin] be a good WR for Kaepernick. Can take the role that Derrick Mason played for the Ravens back a few years ago - catch whatever is thrown at him - and open things up for the younger guys downfield.

The irony, of course, is that I'm a huge Brian Urlacher fan. Interestingly, most of his measurables are better than Ray Lewis'. Yet I don't hear, well, anyone saying Urlacher is the better football player.

Because Ray Lewis has all the physical gifts and also the stuff that made Dick Butkus such a great player - the intimidation factor. Lewis flat out scared other teams and that had a measurable impact on games.

And of course it depends on what you mean by measurables... Urlacher had 7.4 tackles per game, while Lewis had 9, but Urlacher had 0.22 sacks per game, while Lewis had 0.16 sacks per game, Urlacher had 0.12 INTs per game, Lewis had 0.13 INTs per game - however, they had different roles in the defenses they played in. One set of measurables goes to Urlacher; another to Lewis.

To me, I don't think there is any doubt that Lewis is the best LB of our era (I'm assuming our era doesn't cover Lawrence Taylor, obviously).

And, oh yeah. Dick Butkus has both Lewis & Urlacher beat.

By measurables, I was referring to scouting combine stuff -- 40-yd, 3-cone, shuttle, bench press, vertical, etc.

According to ESPN The Magazine, members of free agent Tim Tebow's camp "privately admit" Tebow's NFL career is likely over.

Just 18 months removed from a stunning playoff win over the Steelers, Tebow has been written off by NFL teams in large part due to his unwillingness to change positions. "He's not a quarterback," said one NFC scout. "When you look at his run two years ago, when you watch the tape and break it down, he wasn't really doing anything that impressive. He's a tough guy, a great leader, a great person. But he isn't a good enough quarterback to have all the distractions that come with him." And that just about sums it up.

Jahvid Best (concussions) reportedly isn't even taking neurological tests anymore.

Best's NFL career is essentially over. The Lions are keeping him on the roster as a good-faith gesture toward an employee who was injured on the job. Best continues to accrue time in the NFL's pension program even though he hasn't played since Week 6 of the 2011 season.

I believe pension vesting takes 4 full seasons. Best was drafted in 2010.
