  • Deviations were clearly well-rested coming off their bye - and not in the Bill Belichick we-forgot-how-to-tackle-in-twelve-days sense - as they were the top scorers in two of the three leagues, making up a 50 point deficit in the cap league to retake the lead. Alas, it is only temporary, as the Stafford/Megatron connection will be sitting out next week and scores will plummet back to Earth.

(Next week should be either very interesting or very boring as most of the salary cap leaders have Stafford or Cam Newton as their QB and both are on a bye.)

The scoring is pretty tight though after the top 7. A strong showing and I can easily vault from #12 to #8.

Interestingly, there is a big gap between #7 and #8. #7 is at 121/game and #8 is at 110/game.

      • Actually, I just checked. Assuming that a #7 or better performance that week should have resulted in a win and a #8 or worse should have resulted in a loss, I should be 3-5 now, instead of 5-3. Still, 3-5 would not be dead last, which was snoopy's prediction

        • Considering more than a third of my total points came just from Aaron Rodgers I had been worried about his bye week. I became more worried when both the QB I drafted (David Garrard) and his replacement (Rex Grossman) were no longer playing. But behind an awesome Lions defensive rout of Denver and a not horrible start by my last minute third choice for QB (Christian Ponder) I actually won. Smooth sailing from here.

I am rather impressed that I've been able to do as well as I have with my rather unimpressive team. Especially with my rather lousy 4th round pick (DeAngelo Williams), with Dallas Clark and the moribund Colts sapping my 5th round pick, and now with losing Hightower and my 7th round pick. Moreover, I wisely picked Torrian as a handicap for Hightower, and unwisely cut him before I needed him. And its not luck either, I'm 2nd in points (only 11 points behind Deviations).

          • Ozzy, you have the #2 defense in these settings (Detroit) and Mike Wallace. Those two along with Aaron Rodgers are the reason for your success.

            • The streak continues for the Vicious Rabbits in IDP... This is now far beyond the standard "I'm so unlucky" complaints. It has become a near-epic clash against randomness and standard deviation, redefining the term "beating the odds."

              Points Against, week 8 = 180.58 (Zopper)

              Points Against, season = 1373.77
              Points Against, average = 171.72

That's a full 30 points/game more than the league scoring average (141.68). You could look it up. Yet only one opponent has scored less than 155 against me (Tuber, 137). Poor guy.

My offense has slipped from highly competitive to mediocre of late (thanks, Romo), but that's really immaterial at this point.

I know right. Romo really sucks. I may have to start him over the Mile High Messiah this week, though.

                  • So in your little pinhead mind, Romo was responsible for the loss to the Eagles? Go ahead and use Tebow, the worst starting QB in the NFL. Remember him? The one that rocked your world?

Dude, Tebow has put up more fantasy points in the past two weeks than Romo! As bad as he was against Detroit, he was the #10 QB for the week in my league, whereas Romo was #19! The week before? Tebow was #6 and Romo was #13!

He sucks under Jaguar's settings (where I thankfully have Cam) but in traditional fantasy formats, Tebow can continue having games like that and be a top-10 QB weekly.

That trade I made of Hernandez and Turner for Blount and Romo probably cost me my fantasy season. I checked the numbers. Had I not made that trade, I would have won my last 3 games instead of losing 3 straight!

****ing Romo. He better do something this week against Seattle's woeful secondary. I have him and Austin so I need a big time Cowboys offensive resurgence to save my season. The matchup dictates me starting Romo over Tebow this week and I hope Romo doesn't screw me like he did the last time the matchup dictated me to start Romo over Tebow.

You really do jump to conclusions, Slowwy. All he did was agree with my statement about Romo's poor recent fantasy performance.
Which is a cold, hard fact.

                          Week 8 - 19.52
                          Week 7 - 26.64

Romo has literally had one good week (the Detroit game) all season.

                          • Sloww always does that. I said nothing about the Eagles.

In my league, he's the #12 QB on the season but I didn't have him on his big effort against Detroit that inflated his stats. In fact, he hasn't even given me 20 fantasy points since I got him!

In D/ST league, he's the #11 QB, between Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Hasselbeck!

I'm just hoping that, just like there's regression to the mean, there's progression to the mean and Romo and Miles Austin get back on track. Their upcoming schedule should be really sweet, with Seattle, Buffalo, Washington, Miami, and Arizona before the fantasy playoffs. I need to run the table in my league.

                            • Let him start Tebow. That's what I said. That's not jumping to a conclusion. It's encouragement. Do it.

                              • Seattle is playing guys literally off the street, after loosing starters Trufant and Thurmond for the season... rookies Richard Sherman (5th round out of Stanford), former Calgary Stampeder Brandon Browner, Byron Maxwell (6th round out of Clemson), and off-the-street Ron Parker (undrafted out of whatever the **** Newberry College is) are going to be their freaking entire CB stable!

4 ****ing rookies playing corner! Do you know what Miles Austin and Dez Bryant SHOULD be able to do to them?

This is the perfect matchup for Romo and, as I said last week, the one thing Seattle can do is stop the run so there's no sense in running against Seattle. I swear if Romo doesn't throw for 300 yards and 3 scores, I'm going to be pissed.

And it's for that reason, that I can't start Tebow over Romo this week. Romo has the better matchup and probably the best matchup any QB has gotten this season.
