Philip Rivers played in the AFC Championship game a few years back with a torn ACL! Jay Cutler is a *****
In Cutler's defense, have we all forgotten that the man has Diabetes?! He plays hard with Diabetes, people!
And completely random but I've learned that there is a bodybuilder named Jay Cutler who judging from the google search is more famous than the quarterback."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

Chicago fans would be mad if they won the superbowl at this point. Chicago fans are slightly less awful than philly fans in that they wont physically assault their players with batteries."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

The players that Phillies fans have thrown batteries at since then were players from OTHER teams! Guys like J.D. Drew were never players on the Phillies when they had batteries thrown at them!"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

But the sports franchises definitely do foster it. Look at the Flyers, for example.
It goes beyond sports though. We're like New Yorkers but with a chip on our shoulders."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

I am appalled at the play this injury has gotten in the media. The guy has a torn MCL (Grade II) and was pulled from the game by Bears medical staff over Cutler's objections. Hey took a painkiller at halftime and went out to start the 3rd quarter.
The idiots in the media -- and the meatball/idiot portion of the Bears fan base -- are calling him a quitter when the exact opposite is true. Even the normally reasonable Jason Whitlock wrote a column today calling him a quitter. And of course the 20-30% of fans - the meatball fan segment - are pissed at how the game went, so they jump right on the hater bandwagon.
Hey, I'm all over criticizing the Bears' performance yesterday -- including Cutler, who sucked.
But this frenzy to suggest Cutler was jaking it when all facts are clearly to the contrary is ludicrous. People were questioning his effort and toughness even before the game was over. Then it got escalated even more before the facts were in. Fox Sports was espacially brain-dead, as they were right there in the stadium and couldn't be bothered to cover the biggest story in the very game they were broadcasting.
I'm especially appalled at all the players who threw him under the bus. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Phil Simms. And you, Neon Deion. And Michael Irvin. And Derrick Brooks. And Mark Schlereth. You say they're all media? That just makes it even more irresponsible.
How about current players Maurice Jones-Drew, Kirk Morrison, Darnell Dockett, Bruce Gradkowski and Gerald Alexander. They ran their mouths, too. Nice to know the union is so strong.
Granted, most of these people are just trying to pump up their own macho image by saying "they'd have to drag me off on a stretcher to get me out of a playoff game." Self-serving a$$holes who throw a fellow player under the bus to feed their own egos and curry favor with their Twit followers, and all before the facts are in.
I'm pretty disgusted by this whole thing.
The game was bad enough. The Bears were out-played and out-coached. But this Cutler dogpile is patently unfair and can't be undone. I realize that's the danger of our insta-twit culture, but it's hard to watch it happen.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

I'll give Mark Schlereth a break though. He was a Guard. Offensive Linemen really do play with ridiculous injuries (part of it being that the perception of easy replaceability and low salaries means you play through just about anything so you don't get replaced. And apparently his knee is beat to utter and complete crap (13 knee surgeries).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
