  • Worst playoff team EVER. Not only because of the losing record in the ****tiest division in football... not only because the -97 point differential... not only because the 32nd worst rushing team... not only because the 30th ranked defense... but because the 10-6 Giants and 10-6 Buccaneers are far superior teams by every football measure, including wins.

I swear the Seahawks better beat the Saints. If Seattle gets blown-out 49-3 or something I'm going to

          • Well we saw this year how quickly the league changed the playoff OT rule after last season's NFC Championship game. Maybe this year, they'll make a small but important addition to the playoff structure by granting a third wildcard spot to the next highest-seeded team if a division winner has a sub-.500 record. Just a simple rule that wouldn't necessitate any overhaul of the playoff/division system; just a contingency for the rare sub-.500 division winner.

            Oh and...

Detroit Lions playoff appearances since 2005 (or 1999, if you prefer): 0
Former 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft, Mike Williams, playoff appearances: 1

              • Don't blame your team's inadequacies on the NFC West.

Fans of the Giants, Bucs, Raiders, Jaguars and Chargers, repeat after me:
If you wanted to make the playoffs, you should have won more games.

There are no trophies for "best team to miss the playoffs."

It's too rare to make a rule change for and it's not a crying shame.

                        • I have to agree with MRT. Win your division, get a home playoff game. If you don't like it, realign the divisions. However, the pendulum swings and in a couple of years, the NFC West could be a strong division.

I disagree a little. It should be win your division, get into the playoffs, but you don't necessarily get a home game. Seattle should be going on the road.
