Cincy last year was ridiculous and not good. The only reason they were #3 was because they were undefeated in a BCS Bowl conference."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

It's pointing out the circular nature of whether or not the big east deserves it's BCS bid. Why are you so grumpy?Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostWho cares?"I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

There is no circular nature. That's the rules for keeping an auto qualification spot.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Cincinatti justifies the autobid of its conference by being part of its conference and getting a higher rating?Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostThere is no circular nature. What does that have to do with the rules on how the Big East (or any other conference) loses an automatic qualification slot?“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

You tell me how the rules regarding that work.Originally posted by Imran Siddiqui View PostWhat does that have to do with the rules on how the Big East (or any other conference) loses an automatic qualification slot?"I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

I already did. Meaning, the BE is in no danger of losing its slot.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Bad week for kickers. Of course there was the Brotzman fiasco for Boise State, but tonight Arizona was upset by Arizona State in their annual rivalry game thanks to *two* blocked PATs. The first one came at the end of regulation time and would have given Arizona the win. The last one was in the second OT and gave ASU a 30-29 win.
EDIT: Zendejas, the Arizona kicker, also had a zero-yard punt in the first half. Considering he acted like a jackass at the end of the first half of the Oregon-Arizona game, maybe there is such a thing as Karma after all...Last edited by Boris Godunov; December 3, 2010, 15:17.Tutto nel mondo è burla

I'm more worried about the can of worms they could open trying to close this supposed loophole. If a third party can impact a player's eligibility anywhere by asking for benefits without the player's knowledge, that third party gains a lot of leverage over the player, as could recruiters. As it is, any receipt of benefits is still illegal, so the "loophole" only rewards unsuccessful "shopping" of a player. I don't see that leading to an explosion of "shopping," as so many are wringing their hands over. Also, closing the "loophole" will take control over his own eligibility out of an athlete's hands. Currently, if a player does everything right, he can be sure he'll remain eligible. Close the loophole, and now something he has no control over can render him ineligible, despite his having done everything right.Originally posted by Guynemer View PostInteresting watching the NCAA set itself aflame with their bizarre loophole ruling re: Cam Newton.Solomwi is very wise. - Imran Siddiqui
