    I drafted him

And my other QB is Favre... I don't have the luxury of McNabb and Sanchez. If I had those two, I sure as hell wouldn't go after Campbell.

    • You also cut him after picking up the stellar Gradkowski. Why not cut another position? Did you really feel comfortable with Gradkowski?

Why hold onto Campbell? He wasn't starting and he sucked when he did.

See my point... you see how quickly hoarding becomes the only viable thing to do in the existence of a shortage?

I'm literally the only one in our league that didn't go down that hoarding, inflationary spiral.

This isn't about me. This is about the market conditions that led to this. Had people exercised constraint, it wouldn't have gotten this extreme. 90% of the time in fantasy, you only need 2 QB's. Yet half the league feels the need to have 3. Why? Because in the presence of the initial shortage, people panicked and smashed and grabbed the waiver wire. Now, they wouldn't dare drop one because then someone will pick them up immediately and what happens if the contingencies upon contingencies happen and you're out of a QB? And you wouldn't be reliant on the real-life backup because look whats happens. Gradkowski gets hurt, Campbell is immediately picked up; Alex Smith gets hurt, Troy Smith is immediately picked up.

It's all market irrationalities going on in fantasy football.

        • I have 2 QB's. The same 2 that I drafted. In D/ST, I just picked up a 3rd, Colt McCoy. You may have had misfortune at the position, but that's no one else's problem.
You drafted and reacted seemingly poorly. Even at that, the standings are close.

Why is no one getting that 90% of the time, you don't need 3 QB's but that this situation developed because of panicking. I edited my post, Sloww, after you saw it, and went a little more in depth.

            • Why do you not get the concept of TRADE? Do you really expect people to sit by because you may encounter a need to fill? Come on, dude.
If nothing else, you know that Berz is going to make 200 waiver moves during a season.

                • This really isn't me complaining. This is more my idle curiosity into the mechanics of the fantasy football marketplace. I'm just trying to make everyone aware of the problem so that either next year, it can be addressed by something like cutting bench spots, or just simple restraint by everyone in the league so the situation doesn't get out of hand to the point where there's no QB's out there.

I'm trying to explain my theory on how this situation developed and everyone in here is just attacking me and saying I'm whining.

I don't really care about winning enough to whine

                  • There are 12 teams in IDP. That almost certainly means 24 QB's, minimum, will be drafted. Why? Bye Week and injuries. So from the very start, you're skating on thin ice.
Going back to D/ST league, my first 2 RB picks were rookies. Later, I drafted 2 old farts. I was on thin ice, but that's a gamble I chose to take.
It doesn't matter what position, at some position, at some point, everyone rolls the dice. Where you have to make up for it is in planning.
Let's say that I envision you coming into need of a QB. Why would I not take a 3rd, in order to shore up a weakness on my team due to...whatever. Age. Injury. Suspension for abuse of substance. Whatever.
You're going to have to make a trade, or be very astute to a developing trend. It may make you grimace, but oh well.

It's just interesting to see the scarcity lead to hoarding and more scarcity in an ever-increasing cycle til all QB's are exhausted.
actually I just screwed up, I took McNabb and Alex Smith (both week 9 byes) and then I had a chance to trade for a decent QB (Orton) and he turned out to be a week 9 bye. Thats why I took Moore, I had no one to play and he was available. Smith got hurt and was expendable and I got Kitna now (why I dont know, oh yeah, he's playing in week 9 ) But now I'm somewhat happy But with 14 teams thats a bit over 2 per team. Thats why QBs are scarce...

78.30? Really?? Zopper gets a cheap win as no one on snoopy's team gets even 15 pts.

The fact that Berz racked up the high score of the week with Rogers managing only 11.8 pts. is just scary.

It's a little bizarre that someone would feel the need to pick up Campbell considering how bad he has been. But he's on Guy's team along with McNabb and Sanchez. McNabb and Sanchez sounds alright. What? Is Guy scared that after losing Romo, he'd also lose McNabb AND Sanchez to injury? Is there a single week you would start Campbell over either of those guys?

That's my point. This is more about the economics of scarcity and hoarding than fantasy football strategy. It's interesting, though.
I actually started Campbell just last week. Worked out quite well.
