One thing that's interesting is Berz going with WRs in the flex a little over 1/3rd of the time and it being an unmitigated disaster. Only al and Joncha are worse with comparable flex WR starts.
Oh and another fun fact: I lead TE points despite getting 0 points from my TE the past 2 weeks.Last edited by MRT144; November 24, 2010, 13:33."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

Teams above median score at position split between top 7 and bottom 7 and Mean +/- Medain Top 7 and Bottom 7 (what is the mean amount the top 7 and bottom 7 are above or below the median so we can see how each group performs)
Pos - Above Median Top 7 - Above Median Bottom 7 - Mean +/- Median for top 7 - Mean +/- Median for bottom 7
QB - 4 - 3 - 2.1% - (7.8%)
WR 6 - 1 - 13.4% - (20.4%)
RB - 5 - 2 - 42.3% - (12.9%)
Flex - 6 - 1 - 22.1% - (18.5%)
TE - 4 - 3 2.4% - (3.1%)
K - 5 - 2 - 2.7% - (10.9%)
DST - 4 - 3 - 8.4% - (4.4%)
As you can see the bottom 7 teams on average really suck at WRs and the top 7 teams on average do really really well at RB.
Flex isn't that surprising especially because WR and RB are derivative of Flex but it's pretty glaring. for the bottom half teams (you can definitely thank duke o york for a lot of that)Last edited by MRT144; November 24, 2010, 15:35."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

Okay, EPW, you've got your work cut out for you. Now do better analysis than MRT for IDP league

That's pretty easy:
Jaguar rocks, Kenobi rocks, EPW is lucky, Berz and Zopper are fighting for the last playoff slot, and everyone else sucks.

Lucky Teams in DST: Famous celebs and Jag haven't played a top 3 team by week all season. Guynemer has played the #14 team 3 times this season. Jag has only played 2 top 7 teams the entire season, famous celebs has played the bottom 7 teams 7 times this season.
Unlucky teams: Snoopy has played the #1 team by week points 3 times and lost to teams either 1 or 2 ranks above him in points by week, 3 times this season. I've played the top 3 teams 4 times this season.Last edited by MRT144; November 24, 2010, 22:30."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

I gotta give credit where credit is due; the play every team thing is a great idea and I utilized the concept to build a DST luck o meter;Originally posted by EPW View PostI'm not just lucky, I also have the easiest schedule.
I bow before the mighty MRT144's statistical and data entry prowess. I would not dare try to match him.
I assigned weighted values to the count of the following
times played #1 team *13
times played top 3 team * 11
times played top 7 team * 7
times lost by a team 2 ranks or less above rank*2.5 (I mostly did this for tie breaker purposes)
times lost by a team 4 tanks or less above rank*1
times played #14 team * -13
times played bottom 3 teams *-11
times played bottom 7 teams * -7
the only thing that isn't a rank is wins.
Team-Luck Rank-Point Rank-Win Total-#1-Top3-Top7-2orLess-4orLess-#14-Bot3-Bot7
Mountain Goats-1-1-11-(0-0-4-0-0-1-4-9) No games within top 3, 7 games with the bottom 7
Flash-2-4-8-(0-2-4-1-1-0-4-7) 2 games top 3, 7 games bottom 7
Guy-3-8-5-(1-3-5-1-3-3-4-6) 1 Game against #1, 3 games top 3, Yet 3 games against #14, 6 games against bottom 7
Al B Sure-4-12-4(1-3-5-0-3-2-3-6) 1 Game against #1, 3 games against top 3, yet 2 games against #14, and 6 against Bottom 7)
Famous Celebs-5-10-4(0-0-4-0-5 -1-1-7) No games top 3, 7 games bottom 7
Savage Hammers-6-7-6-(0-1-5-1-3-0-1-6) None against #1 and one against top 3, and almost mirror image on the bottom
Berz-7-5-7-(0-3-5-1-3-0-2-6) Berz and Sloww are nearly identical.
Sloww-8-9-5-(1-3-5-0-3-1-2-6)
Spazz Monkeys-9-11-4-(1-2-4-1-3-1-1-7) 7 against bottom 7.
Ozzy-10-3-8-(1-2-7-1-2-1-2-4)
Imran-11-13-3-(1-3-6-1-3-0-2-5) Imran is almost identical to me except for the one less game against a top 3.
Duke O York-12-14-1-(1-3-7-2-3-0-3-4)
Purple Drank-13-2-6-(1-4-6-1-3-0-2-5)
The Beagle-14-6-5-(3-4-5-3-6-1-2-6) 3 games against #1, 4 games against the top 3, 3 games lost to a team ranked just 2 above for the week, 6 lost by teams ranked just 4 or less above him for the week. Also, =index(result array, match(key value, key value search array)) is the key to everything.Originally posted by EPW View PostI'm not just lucky, I also have the easiest schedule.

I like EPW's luck system better, MRT. Yours doesn't account for the fact that yeah, you might have played the dead-worst team that week but you might have destroyed them with a 150-point week that would have beat everybody else so it's not really 'lucky' that you were matched up against the worst.
As an aside, my best week of the season at 120 points scored was against Jaguar. Obviously, that wasn't enough

I see what you're saying but wouldn't it be lucky that you deprived another team of a sure win? Also, I always thought that your decision making wasn't as much luck as the luck of which opponent you faced during a certain week.Originally posted by Al B. Sure! I will ad something that accounts for playing a team on their best week and something that accounts for losing on your best week, and winning on your worst week. All of these are relatively minor though in terms of the luck of the schedule you play though and some of it is double counting.Last edited by MRT144; November 25, 2010, 15:54."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui
