First off, congrats to the Hawks.

Thank you for the props, Ben. While I'm no expert (far from it), I thought the Hawks played an outstanding game last night -- perhaps their best of the postseason so far. I like to think they skated well enough to take down just about anyone. This was a matchup of the best home team and the best road team in hockey, n'est-ce pas? So sweeping Vancouver on their ice was pretty sweet.

I agree that the Canucks were fortunate to come out of the first period even, and I do credit Luongo for that. [BTW, that hit on Edler by Buff was earth-shaking.] That said, and agreeing they were undermanned on defense, I would suggest that a couple of those 5 goals were a bit on the soft side. Looked to me like Luongo was fighting the puck and didn't show the fluidity and balance I saw in Game 5. But hey, what do I know? I just try to watch and learn.

You mention his age as if it's relevant. Again, Kippersoft is 34, and I don't see you saying that he's too old for his position.

Kiprusoff is 33, not 34. And yes, age is relevant. A 30 year old starting a 12 year contract is relevant.

Kiprusoff, AT 33 (not 34 like you keep saying), had a .920 sv% with 2.31 GAA. Much better than Luongo's numbers. If Kiprusoff's season was sad, how would you describe Luongo's?

Kiprusoff was tied at 9th in the league in sv% (and played more games than any other goalie in the top 10 in sv%). Luongo was 18th.

Kiprusoff was 7th in the league in GAA. Luongo was 19th.

Which one is sad?

So, it's relevant when he's the only worthwhile player on your team and he's already 4 years past his prime.

If Kiprusoff was Canadian, he'd have been the started over Luongo and he'd have a gold medal too. He played better than Luongo in the NHL this year, and he played better than Luongo in the Olympics.

Anaheim (later cup champions) and the Hawks twice, and the Hawks will likely win the cup this year. Pretty good calibre of opposition. You guys allowed Tampa Bay to be cup champions. That's pathetic. Worst stanley cup final ever, but it was good to see the team outscored throughout the playoffs finally get exposed.

Second most pathetic argument ever. Any SCF that goes to 7 games and includes a fight between two of the biggest stars in the league (Iggy vs Lecavalier) obviously could not be worst SCF ever.

Yeah, Canucks will be contenders until Luongo is 40. They'll always be in the playoff hunt. Can't say the same for Calgary. It's going to suck being at the bottom.

We've all seen how inept the Canucks are without Mitchell. He's a UFA this year. Why would he sign in Vancouver again?

Vancouver may keep making the playoffs for a few years, but with a team loaded with perennial playoff chokers, it's not going to matter.

Bottom line is the only thing that matters is the Stanley Cup. Canucks are still cupless.
