I have to write it out every once and a while as a way to cleanse myself of the love I had for the mid 90s Flyers. A horrible sports fan city."I hope I get to punch you in the face one day" - MRT144, Imran Siddiqui

It's a terrific city.
What other cities have teams where when you see the following headline:
Flyers suspected of smuggling body on plane
you assume they mean the hockey team, rather than some random people?
This happened to me a couple days ago. CBC has since changed the headline to avoid confusion."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I guess it's all relative. I'd hate to visit your comparisons.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

I've been to sporting events across the country. The worst, by far, was Philadelphia. They're not fans, they're psychopaths. And that's coming from a Red Sox fan who knows all about how crazy we and Yankee fans can be."I predict your ignore will rival Ben's" - Ecofarm

Guess that's the atmosphere that suites me for a sporting event - fans that are knowledgeable and over-the-top passionate. If you don't like it, don't go to sporting events in Philly. Easy enough. Every Philadelphia player I hear interviewed likes it. Or else."Stuie has the right idea" - Japher

Over the top passionate = people think the fans are *******s. This is fine.
Psychotic fanbase = jail inside the stadium. This is ridiculous.
One dude followed me and a friend through three subway stations (two transfers), going psycho on us. Threats of assault from a significant number as we were exiting the Vet. And this redneck family decided to put their 3 year old son on the seat next to us to say "**** heads" and "**** suckers". The seat folded up and he fell through, and they didn't even thank me for catching him.
But I have a strong anti-Philly bias in general, so maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion.Last edited by The Emperor Fabulous; April 11, 2010, 19:06."I predict your ignore will rival Ben's" - Ecofarm

Whatever. That happens everywhere. You get some fans that are over-the-top obnoxious. I've experienced it in Boston - god forbid I wear an Orioles cap to a Red Sox game when I was eight years old. Don't even try to portray Philly as unique in that regard. Good thing I had my older brothers and cousins with me or those Boston thugs would have left this eight year-old in a ditch. Never held that against BOSTON though, only the losers that were the perps."Stuie has the right idea" - Japher

Vancouver Canucks fans are worse than Philly fans. Fact.
Ben is a big Canucks fan. 'nuff said.
One of them tried to blind an opposing goalie this year."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
