I went ahead and started a league renewing last year's settings... Its early but I like the research tools and spring training news, etc. I dont necessarily wanna commish if someone else wants the job, but everything can either be changed or a new league created and this one deleted.

If we have 11 or 13 or 9 we can still do it, whomever the commish is it should be their job to keep the team with no manager (like Capybaras last year) active. Even if we have to bapay a team, it'll work. I'll edit the max players to 16 for now, not that we'll get that many.

epw wanted singles, doubles, triples, homers and average
I like obp so walks are covered and
a couple people dont care for holds
look at the settings and make suggestions

I added cats up to the max of 15 until we decide on the final settings

          I'm in.
I'd like to keep holds just to give some value to middle relievers but any settings will do.

At least baseball makes time pass a little more quickly than watching paint dry.

                  stats I prefer

R, H, HR, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG
QS, Saves, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB

Doubles and Holds could be added

Doubles and Holds could be added
H, HR->1B,2B,3B,HR: Mine contains more information. H, TB is a possibility as well, But I don't think HR should get it's own category in that case.
OBP,SLG->BB,AVG,OPS: BB/OBP are pretty much equivalent. SLG isn't as important when the Hits are categorized. OPS contains the most information.
                    R,RBI,SB are fine

QS, SVs, HLDS- Okay, these are somewhat predictable. But without holds middle relief becomes useless. If we drop HLDs I think we should drop SVs as well.

K; K/BB- Having both is redundant. I vote for K/9. BBs are tracked in WHIP.

                    WHIP->fine
ERA->I'd just use RA; the earned part can get a little wacky if you ask me.

Assuming BB,1B,2B,3B isn't going to happen, my revised votes are:
H, TB, OBP, SLG, R, RBI, SB
QS, SV,HLD, K/9, IP, WHIP, RA
                    "

I personally like avg but obp covers average and walks, and I think we gotta reward walks. I like TB but its redundant if we do singles, doubles, triples, HRs (or even H, D, HR) . I like your revised stats, but HRs are just so emblematic of the game its hard to drop em. I think I played a league without HRs and it just didn't seem right (and I was in favor of dropping HR). Ks and K/bb reward different things, and guys who dont strike out a bunch of people can still compete if they dont walk many either. And Ks are better than K/9 because we need a stat or 2 to deter the rp strategy, thats why QS > W. IP does that, but it aint as relevant as Ks. ERA > RA, I used to pitch in school - dont blame us pitchers for errors

R, H, HR, RBI, SB, TB, OBP, SLG
QS, SV, HLD, K, K/BB, WHIP, ERA

with HR and TB maybe Slg is expendable
R, H, SB favor faster but weaker hitters
HR, RBI, TB, SLG favor better hitters

RP strategy favors SV, HLD K/BB, WHIP, ERA
but gives up QS and Ks.

I agree that we have to keep HR.

Are runs essential? It seems to be a combination of rewarding people for getting on base (covered elsewhere) and what their teammates do. Does that disadvantage players who don't have good hitters following them in the line up?

You could make the same argument for anything. Does the guy that gets a lot of hits, or doubles, do it because of who he bats between?

Isn't there an Inherited Runner Allowed? That could be used to hurt RPs.
I wasn't fond of K/BB last year, but can live with it. What about BB/9 instead?

If we keep homeruns-I would prefer to use 1B,2B,3B too and drop hits and TB.

                            So...
                            R, 1B, 2B,3B,HR, SB, RBI, OBP, SLG
QS, SV, HLD, K, BB/9, WHIP, ERA, IRA
                            "

Not as big an impact as with runs. With people talking about dropping home runs and hits, what is so special about runs?
