An autistic teenager from the Chicago area has done something almost impossible.

Nearly 48 games into an upset-filled NCAA tournament, 17-year-old Alex Hermann is perfect.

"It's amazing," he says. Truly.

The teenager predicted that Northern Iowa would beat the Kansas Jayhawks. He picked Ohio to knock off Georgetown. And Cornell to knock off Wisconsin.

In fact, he picked every game through the first two rounds correctly. The odds of anybody doing that? One in 13,460,000, according to BookofOdds.com. It's easier to win the lottery. Twice.

"I'm good at math," Alex, a Glenbrook South High School student, said. "I'm kind of good at math and at stats I see on TV during the game."

Alex entered the bracket on CBSsports.com's bracket challenge. His 24-year-old brother Andrew helped him enter his picks into CBS' bracket manager.

Kentucky looked pretty damned dominant again tonight. Hard to believe they're so young.

Xavier seemed to able to shoot the three whenever they needed it. What a great game. It's what College BBall is all about. It was a BS call for the the three free throws at the end of the game, but what the heck, the most deserving team ended up winning.

Yep. Two teams who weren't even the best teams in their own conference during the regular season facing off in a playoff while the better teams in their conference are already out. That's definitely what college basketball is all about.

At least they had a chance to play the games... Unlike in other College sports where undefeated teams never get the chance to prove they are the best.

Neither Kansas State or Xavier is undefeated; they both lost to the best teams in their conference during the regular season (Xavier once to Temple, K-State three times to Kansas). College basketball's regular season is all but meaningless.

Luckily university presidents know this, which is why they don't want a playoff in college football. They're far too smart to ruin their cash cow.

So is College Footballs regular season... since an undefeated team doesn't have the chance to win the championship. It doesn't matter how good you... if you aren't a member of the one "club" conferences, the old men won't give you a chance to be the champion.

With a 64-team bracket, every team that has a chance to win it gets in easily. Your point would be more valid if the tourney was smaller (32 teams or less).

Now you're just being an idiot.

Luckily, university presidents aren't as stupid. They know that college football's meaningful regular season gets the nation to tune in for fourteen straight weekends (plus some of the bowl games), while college basketball's postseason only gets the country to care for three weekends. Making college football more like college basketball would kill TV ratings/revenues and the finances of nearly every athletic department in the country.
