I also think that Paul Johnson would fit nicely at Nebraska. His game would fit nicely at ND, but I highly doubt that he could handle all of the other stuff that is part of being a coach at ND (nationwide recruiting, speaking events, and talking with the press).

Colorado was somewhat of an up-and-down mess before Hawkins took over, and Peterson has been even more successful at BSU than Hawkins was. In the right environment, with a stable program, he could have continued big success.

As do I; he was my preferred candidate to replace Callahan. We needed defensive help desperately, however, so I understand why Pelini got the job.

More up than down. Barnett did a good job.

Peterson has been even more successful at BSU than Hawkins was. In the right environment, with a stable program, he could have continued big success.

I don't disagree. I'm just explaining why ADs at big-time college programs might not be so keen to take a chance on Petersen at the moment.

Fun fact. The only two teams in FBS ball with higher yards per passing attempt than ND are...

Georgia Tech and Navy.

Regarding Paul Johnson, I always wondered why he didn't keep Jon Tenuta as the D coordinator at Georgia Tech. It's true that so far ND inexplicably has a bad D this year under Tenuta's leadership, but his reputation is golden.

Although, to be honest, my #1 rooting interest will be for a meteor to smash into the stadium.

It's also ridiculous that Nebraska went up so much in the polls after what was their worst performance of the season. Just more evidence that the pollsters only look at scores and don't actually watch games.

Well, looks like Alabama overtook Texas as the #2 team in the country....and I can't say that I disagree with that. Alabama beat the #20 team 20-3, whereas UT beat the unranked and awful Colorado 38-14, but was LOSING at the HALF. Yeah, UT is a slow starting team, but what happens when we play someone like Oklahoma or even Oklahoma State?

I still think UT has the best chance of running the table, between UT, Florida, and Alabama, so I think we could still VERY easily see a UT-Florida National Title game, but only if UT runs the table. I just don't think Alabama is capable of beating Florida for the SEC championship, whereas UT is easily capable of beating OU and Oklahoma State, as well as whatever scrub team (Nebraska?) the Big 12 North puts up against us.

Final analysis? Boise State and Cincy get screwed, against an undefeated UT and an undefeated or 1 loss Florida. One of those two teams gets a BCS team, although in a "perfect" world, the BCS game of note would pit Cincy against Boise State if both end up undefeated.

LSU vs. TCU
