    Stanley Cup preview scheduled for Feb. 10

    Combined the Bruins and Sharks have a 41-7-6 record and have outscored their opponents 196-123. Both teams have perfect records against the Wings (the only team whose w/l record comes close to comparing). Note also that the Wings only have a +15 goal differential and have performed terribly against current top 10 teams (5-3-4). The Wings are therefore solidly in the second tier of teams along with Montreal, the Rangers, Pittsburgh, Calgary and Vancouver.

    Boston and San Jose should play for the Cup now and let the rest of us play for 3rd. Discuss.

    San Jose always chokes in the playoffs, the Bruins' goaltending will fall back to earth.

      Your faith is touching but misplaced.

      Tim Thomas and Manny Fernandez have apparently been touched by the gods. And this is San Jose's year to not get embarrassed in the playoffs.

        Maybe they're peaking too early. The Wings will be peaking come playoff time to make another run at the Cup.

          No chance. Too many heartless Europeans already mixed in with just winning the cup, and no one there cares. It's all a bunch of talented floaters.

            Detroit can't beat San Jose, Boston or Montreal (arguably top 3 teams in the league).

            They're going to have to gain that ability if they want the cup.

                        Chicago is half a game over .500

                        They won't be in the conversation until they get significantly better. Though admittedly they already don't suck as much as they usually do.

                          And after this game I'm going to go ahead and say that Montreal currently has the 3rd best team in the league. They've beaten the West's #2 and #3 teams soundly. They routed the East's supposed #2 team. The only strikes are that they're 1-2 against Boston and just recently lost to the Caps.
