  • At least I'm not the only idiot.

Well, after the Tigers lost 11 of their last 13, I thought, just for the heck of it, I'd check the Vegas odds to win the World Series. Hoping that everyone would over react to the Tigers peril, I was looking for something like 80-1.

Well I was way off base. Not only do I find the movement in the Tigers odds amazing but there are a few others I can't believe. Below are some teams, 1st column is opening odds, 2nd column is current odds.

Tigers 12-1 10-1 (Gamblers are impressed with their play so far?)

Kansas City 150-1 200-1 (Gamblers are upset they swept the Tigers twice and are only 1.5 out of 1st?)

Florida 70-1 100-1 (Gamblers are upset that they are only tied for 1st?)

Minnesota 30-1 60-1 (1/2 game out of first in the central doubles the odds against them?)

I'm not commenting on what the odds should be. I am just commenting on the counter-intuitive movement of the odds for these teams only.

I would post a link but the odds change daily so the link would be obsolete. Below I have cut and pasted all the odds as of this moment 5:30 am 11/17/08).

I'm surprised the Cubs got such high odds. Sure, they have a decent team this year, but... they're the Cubs!

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Reminds me of Back to the Future II "Who'd a thought it, two hundred to one shot. Wish I could of gone back to the start of the season and placed a buck or two on the Cubbies"
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
