Hands and knees, sucking the carpet. What an image.
Probably wouldn't be the first time, though.

Cripes. Serge Betsen to Wasps. Never seen a flanker playing in a wheelchair before.

Poor officiating all round this weekend. The Pelous yellow card was a joke yesterday, and the French ref and French touch judge in the Challenge Cup final were plain p*ssweak in their tolerance of Bath's cynicism. Lee Mears dragged down a Worcester player off the ball, fewer than ten metres from the touchie, he signalled the offence but couldn't identify the offending player. Worcester picked up three points, Mears should have been in the bin for ten minutes. As should Danny Grewcock any number of times for offences at the breakdown. Pat Sanderson looked ready to throttle the ref and I don't blame him.
I suppose Munster deserved the win yesterday. I'd rather watch Toulouse play, for all the frustration they can deliver. Bath were too good - and too cynical - for Worcester today.

I'll also nominate the player the Welsh need to watch our for in South Africa - Ryan Kankowski. I think he debuted against Wales in November, but he's developed into a very gifted #8. Tall, amazingly quick, terrific ball skills.

Sorry, but both penalties that gave 6 points to Munster were silly. Munster consistently tackled and obstructed Toulouse players without the ball. Their try follows a scrum where the Munster flankers were not linked to their second row. Although they played the same rucks for all the game, the first penalty they got for their consitent diving was at the 73rd minute...
Now, they had had two matches with that ref in the quarter and semi final, so they knew what fouls they could get away with.
The good point with this match is I finally understood how the ELV about using hands in rucks might be something good. Munster would have to do something other than tuck/pick-n-go.

One of the Munster flankers certainly wasn't binding (legally) for most of the match. As I said, a poor weekend for officiating all round.

The ABs squad is, at this point, less than half a squad. It's missing the Crusaders contingent playing in the S14 final next Saturday. Against, incidentally, the Waratahs. Will Ewen McKenzie emulate David Nucifora? Winning the title after he was sacked? The Waratahs aren't without a chance either. Their defence has been outstanding, probably the only one in the comp capable of containing the Crusaders. Whether they can do it for long enough is the question.

Munster squeezed the life out of the game with that long period of retention at the end. You don't keep the pill that long without a few cases of hands on the deck.
Tigers young guns against the classic All Blacks was apparently a very good game.
What is the situation with Jerry Collins - I've seen it reported that he is "done with NZ rugby" at just 27 years old? But apparently may move abroad if he doesn't retire altogether? Bit of a circus for a simple move north?
Crusaders v Waratahs - played on the same day that we need to beat the hateful insects?

Jerry wasn't selected in the ABs squad because he had announced his retirement from Kiwi rugby. On the other hand, Graham Henry said he wouldn't have been selected anyway because his S14 form had been average at best. Which is right. I saw quite a lot of him during the season and his heart never really seemed to be in it. The passion, the murderous tackles, were AWOL. He has a child somewhere in England and I suspect his heart is there rather in New Zealand.
I'll have to look up that Leicester-Classic All Blacks match. Like to know what happened.
I had a lunch organised for Saturday. I shifted it to Friday night dinner so I could watch the S14 final in the morning and that other minor affair later in the day.
