  • Here is another farce, but on the opposite side of the spectrum:

Piri Weepu gets the munchies while on the piss... stupidity ensues.

Friggin heck, he was only banging on a window!! My kids do that when they see me arriving home each evening.

Why on earth have the cops charged someone with disorderly behaviour for banging on a window? Sure, he may have had a bit to drink, but there is no suggestion he's hit anyone or even been offensive. Sheesh.

I don't blame him either - if he was out on the piss in Courtenay Place, the only spot nearby that would be open is J&M's fast food. Nothing beats that at 3 in the morning after a night of sinking beer, and it actually still tastes great the next morning if it survives the trip home. I think it must be the canola oil, it hardens the arteries a wee bit slower than KFC.

You have to take your hats off to J&Ms, in the competitive late night fast food market they do pretty well to compete with the multitude of Kebab shops. The only issue I have is with the staff - they don't exactly exude warmth and friendliness (or even speak English in some cases), but to be fair much of that may stem from the fact they're serving drunken yobs at all hours of the night.

You're either raising a bunch of future dangerous criminals or future All Blacks then.

        • Crusaders winger Scott Hamilton off to Leicester. Handy player, enthusiastic, versatile, can cover full back, short of top class. That his name has been barely mentioned when the ABs are short a genuine winger is telling. I've seen him have his share of handling problems over the years.

          • Regardless of whether Wasps cheated in the injured prop department - they weren't being demolished in the scrums anyway - Leicester only have themselves to blame. I could have singlehandedly beaten Wasps in the first half. It should have been Leicester by lengths of the straight. The second half was bizarre. Wasps found something, Leicester went limp. Save for Tom Croft. Leicester should clone him. At the same time, they should take Julian White out the back and shoot him. He's a prize idiot who cost his team dearly.

            • I'd also like to see some sort of balance sheet breakdown of Sarries' outgoings against their returns. How much money have they spent for not much return? Today it took them most of the match - and two Saints players in the bin at the same time - finally to get on top and win. Sarries are all flurry - running in all directions, passing in all directions - for minimal return. Hard to fathom. Some very big names - Michael Owen is now at #8 - and a frankly very average Saints led for most of the day.

              • I’ve been on holiday (Cork in Ireland – highly recommended for the fan of a good Stout)

A Wasps player treated lightly by an RFU disciplinary panel – whatever next? They do get away with murder far too often – as you yourself noted they did so with their third contrived uncontested scrum situation in three games against us.

It doesn’t matter that they weren’t being demolished in that phase of play (though they were being beaten in it) – what does matter is that they are destroying the spirit of the game with these shenanigans. Do I think the injuries were real? Not even slightly….

We have let the entire League down – it was our duty to set Wasp on course for relegation. I trust that they will still head that way. Hateful insects.

Reportedly Hamilton is a good friend of Mauger’s. he was signed very very quickly after CauCau failed to turn up for a fitness test. Sending a message that we won't be messed around perhaps? I think we dodged a bullet there anyway?

                • Uncontested scrums at this level are bad. In France, they decided that it happened too often last year so they decided to get back to more sensible laws where, if you lack a prop, you finish the game with one less player. That means less fake wounds and more real scrums.

Don't they mostly drink Murphy's there rather than Guinness?
Guinness remains my favorite. If you go to Belgium, try to get your hand on some Charles Quint if you like stout.

That explains Leicester's dire effort on Saturday.

You did. Hamilton is a GTPJ. Good Team Player Journeyman. Caucau has several screws loose.

For a promising young half back/hooker, you drink too much. Beware. It will damage your career prospects.

                    • Quite right LDiCesare – Cork is Beamish and Murphy’s country rather than Guinness although the latter is still available everywhere. Being fair minded I tried all three repeatedly.

I don’t think I’ve ever had Charles Quint – thanks for the tip!

I wasn’t very happy with their effort on Friday night either.

Early days but the one game already has huge pressure on the new coach. Keep in mind we had never lost at home in the League to the insects – now Loffreda and Meyer have both done so in consecutive games (with some contribution from the players of course). Silly though it is it does mean Meyer is already under the microscope.

As for Wasps avoiding a phase of the game they are relatively weak in I live in hope that the RFU will act on it. They may do so if Wasps pull the same trick on Bath – we live in hope.

Another coach under the Leicester spotlight? Mmmm.

                        • I've just had a browse through the verdict on Mr Haskell. I see it was the referee and citing officials fault that he headbutted an opponent (because they didn't act quickly enough when two Worcester players had a go at Vickery).

Pathetic stuff from the dicplinary panel.

Strange how often Wasps are involved in citing incidents - and how often their opponents get punished more severely. Not much leniency has been shown to Mr Best has it? And Haskell was involved in that incident too.

                          • Yes, I had a rant about the disciplinary panel - and the incompetent ref and other officials on the day - while you were away. Intriguingly, Haskell was also apparently involved when that ratbag hooker Dylan Hartley went for eye-gouging last season. A pattern is emerging.

                              • That was you again was it?

Yes sorry Finbar, I did see that you had mentioned the Haskell verdict. However yesterday was the first chance I got to read the panels comments and I found them quite amazing. I’ve never seen any other headbutt (aka a "Glasgow kiss") described as “an offence on the least serious side of the scale”.

Congratulations to Bath – and I continue to wish all teams that play the cheating insects well. For cheats they are. Vickery – so ‘seriously injured’ last Friday that he was carried off the field – started the game against Bath last night with no visible signs of distress at all.

And Tigers got a nice win over local rivals Saints too.
And it seems Meyer has a sense of humour:

"My hair is grey after only five games, so I don't know how I will survive the season.”
