You're the only one who's mentioned the Masters so far, dude.
You know your sport sucks when you have to get into a staged fight to secure your job
Hate to tell you this, but it wasn't a fake fight. They both knew they were going to fight, but they were not in a tickling match you buffoon. The kid was trying to prove himself, and laraque was willing to let him try.

Well dude, the Masters is the only PGA tournament this week. He could have been watching last week's tournament but that is highly unlikely.

You don't wish someone good luck in a real fight. The fight was staged. He asked the guy if he wanted to fight and then wished him good luck. Are you trying to tell me that isn't staged. They staged a fight to get the crowd pumped up, that is pathetic. If hockey was actually interesting they wouldn't have to stage fights to get viewer ratings up. Golfers can also say hey guy lets take off our shirts and beat the **** out of each other. I'm sure rating would go up. But golf is an interesting enough sport that they don't have to stage fights.

No, they staged a fight (a real fight nonetheless!) for selfish reasons: the kid wanted to gain a rep as a tough guy. Laraque just doesn't give a ****. He fights all the time. He doesn't take it personally.

It was still a staged fight. Yes it was real, as in throwing punches, but still staged and on fake premises. If your sports has to stage fights to get the crowd pumped up, your sport sucks. Tell me this how many people do you think would watch hockey if they outlawed fighting?

By the way, it wouldn't surprise me if the phoenix ****ing coyotes did need to stage fights to keep the crowd interested. There's no reason for Phoenix to have a hockey team.
They averaged ~15000 attendance this year. Compare to Montreal, which sold out every game (21273 seats).
Cost for glass level center season tickets for phoenix 3500$, for the Canadiens 5000$. For upper levels Phoenix 400$, Canadiens 1100$

About as many as watch now. Duh.
Who do you think actually watches hockey to see a fight? You think people are going to sit down for 2.5 hours in order to possibly get to watch two guys throw 5 or 6 punches at each other?
How retarded do you think people are. If that's what they want to see they'll go watch boxing or UFC or something, where they're guaranteed loads of fights.

I never said fans came to see only fights, please learn how to read. Hockey player admit they fight sometimes "to get the crowds pumped" and fans admit they love it. When you have to fight to get your fans pumped up your sport sucks. No other sports has to have staged fights to get their fans "pumped up" (expect boxing and etc). If hockey was actually interesting to most people they wouldn't have to stage fights.
You do realise that there's an average of something like 0.5 fights a game, right?
Actually it is .61. Fans will admit they are looking forward to seeing fights when they go to a hockey game. It's not the only reason they go but it is a partial reason.

Golf has the pacing that's too slow for most 80 year olds I know.
Golf isn't a sport, it's a game.
Golf players aren't athletes, they're game players.
It's really ****ing hard to be #1 in the world at Halo 3 too, but I wouldn't call this person an athlete.

Anyone talking smack about hockey should tune to NBC right now and check out Washington/Philly.

The last time it was over 0.6 was before the lockout.
Wikipedia says it was .61 in the 2006-07 season.
Where is your data on this?
A reader survey published by The Hockey News just before the Bertuzzi incident showed that 75 percent of the respondents "love" or "like" fighting . Dallas Morning News 10 May 2004
fans prefer teams that win and have tendencies to fighting and violence, as opposed to high-scoring, low-violence teams. "Variations in NHL attendance.” American Journal of Economics and

There are many other sources but I'm not going to look them up.
And as far as excitement goes, please compare fans at a hockey game with those watching professional golfers.
Just because golf fans aren't clapping and jumping around doesn't mean there not exited. Not everybody shows their feelings the same way.
