Well, usually 1-2 get R and Batting Average. Without either of those stats, guys like Ichiro get their left nut cut off. Statistically speaking.

1-2 get OBP, one would hope; and OBP skews more towards 1-2 than BA does (as 1-2 should get on base, and often they do that via the walk).

I disagree, Ichiro is simply a bad example imo, he's off to a slow start (he can, and probably will, rebound) but his value right now is in steals, the rest is pretty much average, even if you add BA and runs. I mean, Johnny Damon literally owns him in every cat but steals.

There are plenty of leadoff hitters who are shining with the stats we're using (Furcal, McClouth, ..) it's just the production of Ichiro that's subpar so far.

well I gotta agree with EF on Runs, wish we had it. Didn't we vote on adding it along with RBIs? Oh well, next year. I'd like to play at least one league based entirely on sabermetrics but I dont expect that league to be at Poly. Maybe I'll start an open league and polytubbies can join first.

                    Carmona 4 Cueto?

But I just said I like the guy after he gave me a 32 ERA to start the week.

Well, you've been lucky that only 2 of the 5 runs he allowed were earned

Leadoff hitters have OBP and usually SB, and typically doubles as well (for many of them, especially the non-SB ones). As far as i'm concerned that's about what they are worth

Now, if OBP would be worth more than the other categories...
