As Mister Rogers might say, "One of these things is not like the others."

And yeah, that would be Mr. Woods.

Golf is definitely the toughest mental sport and Tiger Woods dominates the mental aspect of the game ( the physical as well). So this list is valid.

Golf is the toughest mental sport? How do you figure?

The pacing is pathetically slow, is that why it's tough...?

Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final is assuredly tougher...mentally and absolutely physically.

Fact- It takes mental endurance to make yourself hit little white balls around for 6-8 hrs a day. To be great you have commit to this. See Woods and Hogan

Fact- To be a great golfer you have to be a good putter. To be a good putter you have to be able to remember tons of minute breaks in every green you play on.

Fact- Unlike wussy team sports and 1v1 sports there is nobody to blame when you blow your lead on the last hole of a major. Countless golfers play well until the 18th when suddenly they hit slice or duck hook and lose the championship they have been leading for 71 holes in one hole. See Phil Mickelson

Fact- The only thing mental about Hockey is picking which set of dentures to put in before the game.

The fact that no one else depends on you doesn't make it more mentally tough.

Yeah, there's nothing mentally tough in hockey at all. No stress at all.

It's not like the intense atmosphere of a golf course that really takes mental fortitude to survive in.

                              Nope

The fact that no one else depends on you doesn't make it more mentally tough.
The fact to you have nobody to share the blame with when you fail does.

Yeah, there's nothing mentally tough in hockey at all. No stress at all.

I'm glad you came around to my way of thinking.

See other hockey players fell the same way as I do.

Sure it's a sport,'' says former NHL superstar and scratch golfer Brett Hull. "People don't understand what it takes to be an elite athlete in any sport. To me the mental preparation and toughness in golf blows away what it takes in any sport. Just because golfers don't wear running shoes and don't run down the fairway doesn't mean they aren't athletes.''
If every golfer looked like Tiger Woods -- or Boris Becker -- there could be little debate about athleticism in golf. We asked dozens of the sports stars on our newest ranking if golfers are truly athletes. Here's what they say.
