I'm curious, why isn't this run like NCAA pools, where we have to pick out the entire playoff solution from this point?

Good answer, DD, I might have to use it someday...
To answer your question, Snoopy, is I do it this way because its the way I have been doing it since the mid 80's (and the way my family has been doing it since the mid to late 60's).
It was started by my Grandfather when my dad left home to go to college as a way to make sure they kept in touch (the league doesn't just do the playoffs, it does the entire season). It's been going on ever since. In fact, it grew to be so big that most people didn't even know the other players (there were some 35 members at one point). My dad retired and gave the league management to my brother, who moved it on line and removed the family ties restriction to membership.
Suprizingly, membership has dropped the last two seasons, but the quality is still there. At the end of the regular season, the league leader was 177-79 (69.1%), which is among the best from Vegas.
