True, but the conference higher-ups have a lot of say in how the bowl bids go out, and given that Tennessee finished ahead of Florida in the league and got to the conference title game, I think they'll pressure the Cap One folks to take them ahead of the Gators.

As I said, though, it's a highly unscientific process and you very well could end up being right. And should Tennessee do the improbable and beat LSU next week, I think you'd be hard-pressed to argue that Florida should go into the Cap One ahead of LSU.

No. Order comes after the Big XII Title Game (Chase Daniel's position will HEAVILY determined by it).

As for Virginia Tech. They've become MUCH better since the early season. And I think MRT is right. LSU just lost to an unranked Arkansas, after skirting the edge for weeks now.

I guess one can also ask how a Georgia team that lost by 21 to Tennessee can be ranked ahead of them.

As do I. If Oklahoma wins the Big 12, Kansas will likely get squeezed out of the BCS by the two-team rule, and they don't deserve that. (The Cotton Bowl's not a bad consolation prize, but there's no doubt in my mind the Jayhawks deserve a BCS bid.)

Such a bizarre year. I've gotta admit, when Illinois lost to Missouri, first week of the season, my reaction was: "Well, if they can't handle Missouri, looks like another long season for the Illini." I had no clue I watching two of the best teams in the country. No one else did either.

I would have figured there to be more than three teams currently in the poll that didn't get a vote at the start of the season. Still, yowza.

I really would not mind to see Pitt continue the Curse of #2 and knock off West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl while Missouri gets revenge against Oklahoma. Yes, that would put overrated Ohio State into the national championship, but they'd be destroyed by Missouri there anyway, while the Illini would get a well-deserved spot in the Rose Bowl.

For the bowl predictors, here is the SEC Tie-ins:

The Southeastern Conference has agreements to send eight of its member institutions to postseason bowl games following the 2006 season. The winner of the SEC Championship Game will automatically participate in the Bowl Championship Series comprised of the Sugar, Rose, Orange and Fiesta Bowls.

The Capital One (2nd), will then make its pick following the BCS selections. The bowl must select the team with the next best overall record or a team that is within one win of the team with the next best overall record.

The Outback, Chick-fil-A and AT&T Cotton Bowls will work with the conference office to determine picks 3-5. The Cotton Bowl has the first preference of teams from the Western Division and the Outback Bowl has first preference of teams from the Eastern Division. The Cotton or Outback Bowl can select teams outside of its divisional preference, but must not select them before the opposite bowl selects from its divisional preference. The Chick-fil-A Bowl has the selection of preference following the Cotton and Outback Bowls.

In selections 6-7, the AutoZone Liberty and Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowls will make their selections, not in any specific order, but in consultation with the SEC Office. The Bowls will rank available qualified teams in order of preference. If there are no similarities in the order of selection, the bowls will be granted its selection. If the bowls rank the same teams in preference, the team involved in the process would get its preference of which bowl to participate.

The Independence Bowl will receive the eighth selection of available SEC teams.

In this of all years, you can really make a case for the lone udefeated team getting its shot.

I know it will never happen. What are they, 12th in BCS and 10th in the polls? Damn. But how cool would it be to have Hawaii-Missouri for the big game? Answer: Totally.
