Looks like Kessler took a run at Jones, but missed. Then that douchebag crosschecked Kessler.
That makes more sense than just random goonery."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Folly color commentator I Dunno speaking about their upcoming match with the storm
"Well we are in tight against a good club. The series is pretty even and tonight we have only 3 skaters aside as well as potentially one goalkeeper each. I have to give the edge tonight to the Storm as Alredsson has been on fire while two of the three Folly are recent callups.
The key game will be Atlanta-Buffalo as two Sabres skate for the Folly while the Storm have a skater and keeper in Atlanta. Ottawa will also be an interesting game as any points Alfredsson gets may assist Gerber in attaining another win"
Folly GM Re Volvingdoor spoke about recent callup Dan Hamhuis
" Well he does play some big minutes and we just thought we would get him out there and try for some plus minus there. Any points would be a bonus. Our club has been struggling with its plus/minus and we hope he can show some leadership"You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

What is with Crosby?
I did notice you were down 5-1 in the battle of the Pantless-- and we were hearing less from you about your team-- But the upside for you looking at your stats is that there are five categories where you are tied or the margin is one-- You could still end up winning the week with a good week Saturday
BUt the ups and downs are showing quickly for stats like plus/minus. Last week IIRC your team was stellar while this week I think they are second worst on that stat of all the teamsYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

I am seeing lots of examples of the inconsistency that makes this league style a wild ride
Take Zubov-- last week he was minus 4 in one game-- This week he is plus 3 for the week--
Add in schedule inconsistencies where a top player may only play twice or could play 4 times, and I can see how any team can crush one week and get crushed the nextYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Goalie stats are the biggest crapshoot. Mason's awful game tanked my stats."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I didn't see the hit. I watched the game for the first 30 minutes and by then it was out of reach and I was very happy with Briere--

The guy is scum:
In the 1997-98 season, while a member of the OHL's Plymouth Whalers, Boulerice used a baseball bat swing to cave in the face of Guelph's Andrew Long, for which Boulerice was suspended his overage season in the OHL and pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated assault."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. More on the hit from 98:
Less Than Murder
When Jesse Boulerice laid out Andrew Long with a vicious high stick, was it just hockey, or something much worse?
Posted: Wednesday March 17, 1999 01:37 PM
After tussling over a loose puck in the corner, Boulerice (white jersey) took a baseball swing at Long (black jersey). The ref didn't see him do it, but it was captured on video.
This week Sports Illustrated examines a 1998 incident in the Ontario Hockey League, in which one player deliberately smashed his stick into another player's face. CNN/SI presents an excerpt of the story, as well as videotaped evidence of what the OHL calls the Jesse Boulerice-Andrew Long Matter.
Something terrible is about to happen.
There, in the upper-left-hand corner of the screen. Behind the goal and a step to the left. The videotape is probably a copy of a copy of a copy, as grainy as a Navajo sand painting. A hockey game. The camera pans too fast, too slow, chasing knots of players back and forth across the ice. Medium wide-angle coverage, very likely shot from the press box, panning blue line to blue line, blue line to crease, blue line to blue line. It looks like team tape, overbright and jittery, something coaches use to show players how a penalty kill broke down or to mock their clay-footedness on a breakaway. The date—APR.17.1998—appears across the bottom of the screen.
You've been told about the incident, so you know what to look for, and where. You think you know how bad it's going to be. The camera pans left and then rests, showing an area from the blue line to the goal. A clumsy rush forms and dissolves, and a blocked shot shakes the puck loose. It squibs into the corner, left of the goal. Two men skate in on it. They look small, but they aren't. The white jersey gets to the boards first; black jersey vectors in a second later, delivering a cross-check to the back, left elbow high. The puck slides past them and is cleared up the ice. White jersey turns, gives black jersey a shove, and they both glide toward the net. They are three feet from each other, no more, the black jersey a step nearer the goal. They pause for a second or two, the time it takes to read from here to here. But the moment seems to stretch on and on, elongated and made dense by the number of possibilities it contains.
Then it happens. White jersey lifts his stick and swings it hard at the head of the player in the black jersey. The long, flat arc of the swing drives the heel of the stick into his face, and he goes down. Goes down like an empty suit of clothes dropped to the floor. Goes down and stays down. The player in white stands over him as the camera pans away to the right. The tape abruptly cuts to a shot of the scoreboard.
Several seconds later you remember to breathe again.
This is a sports story in which no one wins. Everyone involved has already lost, and all that's left is the reckoning."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Thanks asher
Boulderice seemed to want to fight after the crosscheck-- I don't think he expected it to have as much effect as it did and I'm not certain that he intended to put it right in the face as he did
But to me it doesn't matter. This is away from the play stickwork on an opponent that doesn't even see it coming. I think this has far less place in hockey than even the Downie hit and hope that Boulderice gets something like 40 games
Lets send a message about this stick crap !!
Oh and the "hit" on Sanford in the dying seconds?? If this was a 2-2 game without all the prior crap, that would have gone unnoticed and in my view should have gone unpenalized. A player should be able to try to play the puck and while it should never be open season on a goalie, any goalie that is actually playing the puck should be subject to the same contact as other players.
But it wasn't a 2-2 game -- it was an 8-2 blowout against a team the Flyers will not face again this year- Thee was no reason to "send a message" and with 30 seconds left in a blowout, I think the Flyer should have peeled off. there is no shame or lack of grit in a player that plays hard when it matters but peels off in the last minute
IMHO the only reason the Flyer got a penalty for that "hit" was that the referees just wanted him off the ice so as not to be a target of Canuck frustration. IN a 2-2 game I bet that call doesn't get madeYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo
