  • Mayweather vs De La Hoya

Seeing as there aren't any threads here, did noone watch this fight?

I tried to, but the bar I went to didn't show it.

    Is boxing dead?

Paying $60 to watch a fight on tv is dead.

I'll watch it next week on HBO for free.

    ACK!

Plus, the fight resolved absolutely nothing.

I watched it on a free stream before work (04:30 local time). I had Mayweather winning by two points, ODLs stamina let him down towards the end and he gave away the last three rounds.

Was on-call for work, hate trying to watch sports in bars. Boxing will be far better served trying to get back to mainstream TV.

Notice that the UFC, PRIDE, etc., are gaining in popularity, they seem to be on mainstream tv all the time now.

              It's all about accessibility.

They can't pay world class boxers what they demand without PPV. Check out how much a UFC champion gets paid for a bout, peanuts.

Most PPV bouts really aren't worth paying for. This fight, from what I've heard, doesn't seem worth the money either.

PPV is why boxing is dying, it's going to destroy good boxing, not to mention the lousy scoring that happens a lot.
