Just like England in fact. Both incredibly disappointing.

    • Unfortunately I think Wenger is right...until the English players stop being prima ****ing donnas and stop *****ing about each other, play and practice together for a few months, then England will suck.

Brazil weren't that bad in the WC. Ronaldo sucked, yeah, but Brazil themselves were pretty decent. Italy were playing well, but Materrazi needs shooting. France...nah, didn't deserve it as much as the Italians, though Zidane

I wanted Germany to win it though (well after England, obviously). And Argentina are idiots if they think they can beat germany in a penalty shoot out. Really, you would have to be off you head on crack to think that Germany will lose a penalty shoot out.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Mexico definitely play better against teams that prefer s/low passing like Brazil and Argentina (plus all the other S/C. American sides).
True dat, but considering that Mexico plays in CONCACAF, you'd think they'd learn their lesson by now. US Soccer has been influenced the most, by far, by English soccer. Of course, there is a sizable Latin influence (and it seems to grow as time passes), but there is a very English mentality of physical play and leaving everything out there on the field behind it. I guess the draw (see, I didn't say 'tie' ) against Italy in the WC demonstrated that very well. A physical, never-say-die attitude is central in US soccer, at least currently. I'm interested in seeing the fusion of English ideals (and white players that idealize them) and Latin talent and flair (coming from children of Hispanic immigrants)

        • USA v Italy was certainly a physical contest. Well tasty.

          • The US team certainly has similarities with English football, maybe not the English national team though. We've had that 'do or die' attitude coached out of our players since the summer of '98, or maybe even '96.

                • It does look good. With the Northern Ireland FA short of money to bring Windsor Park up to standard I can see them asking to play their home matches there at least for a while.
