  • 370,000 babies will be born today

Have you contributed to the civilization upon which they depend now and in which they will grow to maturity? I'm not just talking about food production, energy, clean air, I'm talking about civilization! There is much to it, don't you agree? It takes real men of honor, and women who believe in the power of the family, all prepared to contribute to the growth, in so many ways, of a child, of the future, of civilization.

Dolores and I have paid for the college education of three young people, two family girls, one young man not family. Though we are about broke we are preparing to help pay for a fourth, a young man who is family. This one's going to be spendy, kid wants to be a cop. For this we expect very little and often receive even less. Gratitude, very rare. Only one of them has it, a dear friend. Perhaps the others don't understand our hard work thgat went in to paying for their education. Yet we hope we are contributing to a future in which we are no more, and these young people will help those who come after, and expect little in return but perhaps receive more. They will understand then what goes in to paying for education. Then maybe they will look back and understand who we were in their lives. After that generation, we will be forgotten. So what? was it about us? Are we the center of our universe? No, we are contributors to our civilization. It'\s not about us.

We teach respect for the honorable. Decision making, I've learned to teach this, to empower the young to face their own future, build their own civilization. Look at us as makers of civilization mods, but in real life. We have shared our wealth among the poor though we are not rich. We are workers.

I see children in the streets every time I go to the city, old people with their lives almost spent huddled in a pathetic heap behind a cup, the wealthy pass them by, but I give to each, I never fail. Well only once, and it still haunts me. The first time I came here and I'd been told by an American to not give to the beggars, they just take advantage. I'll never forget her face, her anguish, greater than any I've given to since. I walked by. We all have our nightmares.

So here you are, in the Apolyton OT. This place, this hallowed place which took two families which had no place to raise their children and gave them a place. This forum echos with the memories of honor, integrity, charity. This is the place, this place.

Zkribbler told me a story about what starting him giving. A woman who used to post here, Werefox, had children of her own. The hardships she endured raising those kids on her salary was well known at the time. Do you remember her? Perhaps not. When she contributed $25 to the first Apolyton House project Zkrib figured that if someone with so little could find it in her heart to give, how could he not? A good man Zkrib, a great friend, helped a lot.

So, what have you done to improve your lot, to make this world a better place for the humanity you share it with? Have you treated friends with respect? How about those of which you really know nothing?

I really have been treated poorly here. The insults are a small price to pay for the trust Apolyton has given me over the years. Now, there is no new house project, its Apolyton that needs the help. The soul of Apolyton needs awakening. I don't ask a donation for any cause outside of this place, I ask only for a remembrance of and call to the greatness that echos in this place which has done so much...for others.

Thing is, it might not have been you that helped. Werefox, haven't seen her. Zkrib is gone, Sloww is here, he never quits. Aeson still comes here, though we have our differences. I saw Tia, some few others, and AAHZ of course. There may be more, don't know. Thing is, its not so much the givers to the Poly Houses that inhabit this place now.

So, what about the 370,000 babies born today? What about the young civvers who pick up Civ V and after a hard day's civvin come in here to chat with their friends? What will their needs be? Who will they look up to? Not Werefox. Who? Where will the AAHZes of the future get good advice in dealing with the challenges of his life, challenges that we cannot conceive of? What will you teach the 370,000? Will you build a house where none was before, the house of your being? Will you become a better person so that you can enrich civilization? What about people you don't know, a storythat is not personal, a want so far away that you cannot touch it? Do you see now the greatness that is lost? Can you find it?

    Can you do better?

Ever considered some people might get enough satisfaction from just doing stuff and don't need to shout from the rooftops about any charitable works they might do?

Or that this is a computer game related site, not a life school for the young?

Or, indeed, that it might be possible for you to be slightly less self obsessed? Read your post back "I've" "I" "I" "Dolores and I" "I" "I" "I" "I"

If you want to create a forum like that, go ahead and form one. Take the hints from your repeated threads on this that posters here don't want the same as you. I'll let this one continue but don't start any more, I'll just close them.

Yeah, you used to occasionally post something other than long moans about the state of the forum.

Yes, thank you MikeH. I did post in Serb's thread, perhaps you didn't notice it.

I don't post much in any forum right now, not since the attack on me at WPC by some of the people here. I don't want the folks there to suffer because some of the people here like to chase me around. Rather just change the place from which those attacks came. Do you understand my reasoning? Plus, Apolyton has been something very special in my life. I'd like to contribute to it, perhaps in a different way than you do.

I have respect for moderation and will try to adhere to your suggestions.

lancer, the best thing you can do for this forum is to leave it. it's really that simple.

Ask him about where he was and where he is and what I've done for him. More than most people in his life I'd guess. Then ask him what I got in return.

No dannubis, I'll tell you this, MikeH is wrong about one thing. Helping others is not about self. If its about "I" this aint it. And you are wrong about something too. I treated Aeson like gold. Made his dreams come true.

Gee Lancer... I guess you must think you are the only one that gives money and their time to charity since you are the only one that brags about it on this forum.

Well... You are sadly mistaken. Many of us do give a lot of our time and money to charity, we just don't think it's necessary to talk and brag about it, especially here.

And as far as these forums go, they are what they are. If you don't like it, don't post. It's obvious that the current posters don't agree with your view of what these forums are all about.

And again, you keep talking about the good ole days, and back then, you were telling lies and insulting people while also attacking the admin on a regular basis. Your memory must be fading because your view of the ole days seems to be missing things YOU did, that now you are complaining about what people are doing today.

And in conclusion, the gift of giving is about the giving, not bragging about what you do. The real reward is the satisfaction you get when you see that you have really helped somebody and made a difference, not bragging about it.
                            Keep on Civin'
RIP rah, Tony Bogey & Baron O
