I thought your theme in health care threads is that cost control is unposssible.
As proposed in the bills currently under serious consideration by the Dem leadership in Congress? I would agree with that reading of my posts.

Considering that to the Palinites it has seemed to indicate a panel of doctors who decides who lives and dies by a thumbs up or down motion, it's more than just a rhetorical flourish.

Besides, rationing of care already happens. It is just insurance companies who decline treatments and drugs.

        Your position is that:
a.) Medicare disbursement reform will be ineffective in reducing long term costs.
b.) Federally run insurance such as Medicare will cut back on reimbursing providers for marginal treatments to an excessive degree.

        That is not internally consistent.

You seem to be as much of a moron as Oerdin.

              More or less.

                It's very consistent, actually.

How can you possibly be cynical about cost savings from disbursement reform if you believe that it will be excessively aggressive? That's pretty much the definition of a contradiction.

                • One way they could be consistent off the top of my head:

Medicare disbursement reform will not be able to effectively deny specific treatments based on their cost, and will try to control costs by cutting back on the prices it pays so much that providers stop accepting Medicare.

Yes, and that disbursement would be off the government tab. Other government agencies might have to pick up the tab, but probably to a limited extent (see how the uninsured are currently being funded). That's not the ideal solution. But you do cut costs.

This is the path it's been headed down.

Because this was referring to the example that Dino cited.
