Off-topic content is easy. On-topic content takes some measure of work. Judging a new forum after a few days based on how much off-topic there is vs on-topic isn't going to provide any useful insights.

As for the forum drama about choosing one or the other... If WPC has a forum I like posting at and Poly has a forum I like posting at, it's really not a tough decision is it? I post where I like. Just as back in the day I split my time between CFC and Poly for on-topic. I mean, with a couple bookmarks it's just as easy to navigate back and forth from sites as it is to navigate within a site (especially when the site is like Poly and has dreadful navigation to begin with).

I find those railing against one site or the other somewhat amusing though... so good work on that

I too have my doubts about the logic that Off Topic was killing the site.
As for who's to blame for the wedge in the administration, those are pure personal opinions of course. I have been shown some screenshots of the poisonous discussions in the staff forum, and Ming looks to me like a paranoid absolutely bat**** crazy nutcase. Definitely more insane than Locutus or Solver. Basically they and DanQ wanted to get away from Ming much more than from you or the off topic.

So you know, they're all flawed human beings, but if I have to choose between Ming/CyberShy or Locutus/Solver...

Anyway, you got rid of DanQ, Dale, Locutus and Solver. You don't have to talk to them ever again. Enjoy your victory and leave it at that. Apolyton is your territory and WPC is mine, mkay?

Well it's obvious that Ming and rah wanted on-topic moderated ... loosely. (Witness their actual public acknowledgement and "special casing" of some trolls in on-topic forums.) On topic died for me because of that. I'm certainly not very enthusiastic about spending a couple hours of my life to research and type up an on-topic post when it's just going to get buried in pages of flames and epeen contests. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

When I brought this (need for a more controlled environment for on-topic posting) to the attention of Ming and rah, they seemed incapable of even acknowledging my existence. At best they were responding to me by grouping me in with a nebulously defined "SOME" who were saying off topic was killing on topic. (Whereas what I was saying was on-topic moderation mimicing off-topic moderation was killing on-topic.) Some of the "wimpy" on-topic mods told me they had been trying to convince Ming and rah of the same thing.

It makes me wonder what really went on in the admin forum.

Well...

I can say strongly that there is no poisonous plans being cooked up
here on Poly against any other site...Especially on the staff board.

The whole arena has became super-charged, and the various
posters involved in the 'debate' have started to invent their
own conspiracies and rumours to suit their 'post character'.

That is what I can surmise.

Btw, I would disagree with that characterizations of Ming in the Staff Room. While he may have been "bat**** crazy insane" when it came to certain... personalities, he was also the voice of sanity in a room of wanna be authoritarians.

Of course you can pick and choose posts to make any conclusion you'd like.
