Also, I take offence at my thread being called a Troll - it is an extremely pertinent question under the circumstances. Not to mention the fact that I have been personally attacked (twice!) and cannot defend myself...
Imran, please address this issue - Otherwise I may be forced to issue a death threat...

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Perhaps I'm paranoid, but a moderator who finds out personal information about a user and then makes threats regarding such, does not make for a good landlord. Yes, Asher is a complete dickhead, but a bit of maturity is required for a caretaker position such as an owner/operator of a forum, at least for me to want anything to do with.
Its quite simple to figure out who someone is based on just their email and ip address. Likewise, I imagine it would be fairly simple to edit/create posts to intentionally make a poster look vile. In conjunction, those acts could have potentially devastating effects on persons, like, for example me. I work for two high powered state and local elected offices who would cut me in a heartbeat if I brought some inkling of embarrassment to them. Yes, I am extraordinarily bland and serious arguments involving myself escalating to such levels are unlikely, however, who can predict where/when the mental instability will strike next?
History is the best predictor of future behavior (shout out, Dr. Phil), and history tells me that I want nothing to do with a forum run by someone who threatens to escalate arguments beyond the imaginary walls of the forum.

It's ridiculous. That one thread of his is more offensive than anything on Apolyton in days, and certainly more offensive than my facetious Panda sex comments.
He just said anyone who supports gay marriage is not a "good, sensible" person. His moral righteousness and systematic attacks on minorities and people not of his faith are ridiculously offensive. But they'll get a pass because the admin at the new site, and probably most of the posters, don't understand passive aggressive offenses are still offenses.
Ben Kenobi is one of the single most offensive posters in the history of Apolyton, and he is being welcomed with open arms at a site that pretends it is peaceful and perfect.

At any rate, I'm only over there 'cuz Lancer moved his Phillippines stuff over there and so far they have CivIV forums that are moving a bit faster than ours. Their OTF OTOH isn't doing too well so far.I'm consitently stupid- Japher

I'm a bit lttp on this one, as i was gone all day, so sorry for the seriousness above.
from what i've read here, wpc sounds like cfc-lite in their moderation. what's really the point of a forum if there aren't occasional blowups, cursing posters, wiglaf, factions that joust for fun. sounds dreadfully painful.
