I did register and post over there to look around. The OTF hasn't much yet, but their Civ forums are a lot lively than ours and it's a bit refreshing.

As for Dale, my opinion is similar to rah's but I'd like to add some things:

I haven't seen attacks there against ACS. I have seen many here directed at WPC. Granted I don't read every thread.

Should Dale be banned from Poly? Yes. Should I avoid WPC because of his actions? No. As Asher himself said, the Community is what makes a site. Not Dale, not the other admins. I'll judge for myself as things roll along whether or not WPC will become a place to stay. In the meantime I'll post at both.

Personally I'd hate to see Poly go under. I've been coming here for over 10 years now and would hate to find a new home.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Here's a choice quote from a WePlayCiv poster:

Ming is a sad loser. You guys (Dale:Locutus/Solver) have had the restraint not to reveal the truth about him, but he can't help himself starting to flame you guys.

      How's that, Nikolai?

There's some kind of weird stockholm syndrome going on on that site. Dale is a victim here, etc. Pretty hilarious.

Let's be honest. There were two very distinct factions in the staff room over how things should be dealt with in the Off Topic.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

When you let hate into your heart, you can justify anything.

And for anyone thinking I'm an Asher apologist, I think Asher himself can disuade you of that. And yes, Asher, I do think you do a lot of "look at me" stuff, but this is the internet, no one can say they haven't done it at least a few times.

I can safely say Imran and I do not always get along. We've flamed a few times.

That was posted in reply to this thread. So it's kinda silly to use this as proof of the initial post's hypothesis. At most you've created a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Oh bollocks. Ming said that he thought a death threat was a bad thing; he'd know, being on the recieving end himself.

You're retarded, or have no sense of proportion when you think death threats are acceptable.

You think death threats are acceptable, pm me your email address, I'm sure I can find someone who'd enjoy sending out death threats.

The reason they won't reveal the truth is that it reflects badly on them, and that is really good to have on the advertising posters, isn't it
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Hmm, is that directed to me?
I think that PM from Dale to Asher was one of the childiest things I had seen in a long time.
But that does not stop me from thinking Ming is a nutcase.

Who are you btw? I seem to remember you talking negatively about me before.

There's no news stories, there's no interesting on-topic threads, and there's no reason to visit the on-topic. As a result, on-topic has whithered and mostly died.

Rather than admitting they had failed -- I'm thinking Dale, Solver, and Locutus specifically -- it is easier for them to blame others. It is ridiculous to blame people who are confined to the OT for killing activity in the on-topic forums.

You guys need to man up, identify the problems, and address it. This blame-Asher schtick is old and nonsensical.

According to Solver, 60% of the visits to Poly is now in the OTF. That should make it clear that the OTF isn't the problem, since we haven't grown really. The problem is the on-topic has died, and it's because of administrative bungling and ineptitude more than anything else. And the admins responsible for on-topic content have now fled to another site. Rather than being a pawn in their game, look at the situation critically. Is the cause of Poly's on-topic decline the strong personalities in the OTF, or is it the management of the on-topic content?
It should be interesting to see how their on-topic forums last beyond the novelty of a new site. In the meantime, this site should focus on getting new people to bring in content.
