And Eyes was restricted MANY TIMES... and he served some of the longest bans back in the days... and yes, he was allowed to strut his stuff in the Civ II MP forums, because everybody was. And no, he couldn't say anything he wanted. Most of his antics were allowed only in the Civ II MP forum... and when he tried it outside of that, he was banned.

This is bull****. Eyes posted **** in the CIV forum for weeks until he got laughed out of there after being owned by Krill (and previously twice by Ozzy). Maybe you banned him at that point, maybe not, but I know that you and/or rah personally were commenting in those very same threads about how Eyes can say whatever he wants (because to you/rah think it doesn't matter). The damage was done nonetheless. Instead of having a renaissance of on-topic with the release of CIV, like you had with Civ III (where trolls and spammers were almost exclusively kept out of the strat forum) you have epeen waving as your "content"... and you wonder why the on-topic content isn't there?

Gee... you seem to forget that I was only one of the mods of the Civ III forum. I guess you should be attacking Solver as well. I notice you blame me for everything and never mention Solver or the other mods of the Civ III forums. I took the job to help them, but spent most of my time in the other forums I had to mod, unlike the primary Civ III mods. And you also are forgetting to mention that people did get restricted for the goings on in Vel's thread...

Solver didn't post confirming Eyes' antics. I don't know to what extent Solver was involved, or when he became involved. Solver also isn't here constantly telling me when I'm talking about "on-topic" moderation that I'm really talking about "off-topic" moderation.

You were there, you saw what was going on, you and/or rah (I really don't know between you) affirmed that (at least some of it... Eyes) was ok in your book... and now you're just trying to pass off the buck to other moderators. (Those who your brother calls "wimpy" for wanting tougher moderation. You claim for the off-topic, but given how you and rah consistently misread "on-topic" as "off-topic" in my own posts, and the PM's I've gotten from some of those "wimpy" on-topic moderators confirming they wanted tougher moderation of on-topic forums, I have to really wonder if you know what those "wimpy" moderators were even asking for?)

The only visible moderation in Vels threads was what I mentioned. And whatever other moderation was in those threads obviously didn't work.

The release of Civ III was a hotly contested time... the game was considered by many to be seriously flawed. It seemed like the fan boys thought any negative comment about the game was an insult to them. There were some lively discussions, which there deserved to be due to the nature of the problems with the game.

That was the general forum. Then there was the strat forum where all the good stuff happened. It was a great forum for analyzing the game. A good share of the good stuff about Civ III originated there, even much of the stuff that ended up at CFC too. (I joined a month after release IIRC, after lurking since release.) CIV just didn't have that to start out.

The accusations thrown by the on-topic side of things is the off-topic forum is killing the site. Whether the on-topic folks were inept at selecting moderators and moderating their own forums is another topic, one perhaps most relevant to ask at The Site Which Shall Not Be Named, considering they are the on-topic loyalists that were largely in charge of such ineptitude.
