Argentina never looked like they stood a chance. Just like France, Spain kept them on defense most of the game. Argentina's only hope would have been penalty kicks.

We played like ****, deserved win for Spain.

I really don't know what they were thinking, playing like that. No attempts to score, terrible fumbles, Messi just wasn't there. I know it's not the best team, and it was bad luck losing two people to injuries (and at the end a third with no subs left), but I've seen them play better. Hell, if we had at least tried to play like we did the last 20 minutes at the start of the second half, it would have been a better game (even if we lost).

The ref was also out of his depth. Not terrible, but definitely not world-cup-final level.

Except they did play like I expected the last 20-30 minutes, which I mentioned in my post. (Edit: I also mention I wouldn't have expected them to win even then, but you go ahead with your cognitive dissonance angle, it's spot-on and very classy, the way you like it)
