OTOH he's cool with North Korea's Kim (again), and moans about South Korea (which Hegseth earlier presented as great example for defense efforts)

This White House is a Madhouse.

Premier Doug Ford had harsh words for U.S. President Donald Trump who vowed on Monday to increase tariffs to 50 per cent on all Canadian cars, trucks, automotive parts, and steel on New Year’s Day.

“He can kiss my ass as far as I’m concerned,” Ford told Newstalk 580 CFRA host Bill Carroll on Monday morning. “We are going to go at him full steam.”

Ford said he is considering putting an export tariff on electricity to make the U.S. “feel the pain.”

He urged all premiers across the province to “start jumping into the fight.”

“I can’t be standing alone on this,” he said.

“Every single province, or majority of them, deliver electricity down to the U.S. Alberta delivers 4.1 million barrels of oil down in the U.S.”

I am not delusional! Now if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go dance with the purple wombat who's playing show-tunes in my coffee cup!

Trump signs order to rename Lake Ontario as 'Lake America'

'They feel entitled and we can't have that,' U.S. president said of Canada

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an order directing the interior secretary to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America," as the trade war with Canada persists.

Trump cannot force Canada to follow his preferred naming convention, however.

The move is reminiscent of his move last year to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America."

Trump, who signed the order as he was sitting at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, had a large sign behind him propped on a stand with a map of the Great Lakes. Over Lake Ontario, in big red letters, the map read "Lake America."

He told reporters that Canada is "the worst" to deal with on trade. "They feel entitled and we can't have that."

The U.S. president has been floating the idea of the name change in recent days as the U.S. announced it was imposing 50 per cent tariffs on $28 billion worth of Canadian goods over the weekend after talks between the countries broke down.

Trump has been needling America's northern neighbour since he returned to the White House last year, suggesting the ally with whom the U.S. once had warm relations should instead be absorbed as the 51st state.

The U.S. and Canada share borders along multiple Great Lakes, including Lake Ontario.

The official U.S.-Canada border stretches across the water between Lake Ontario's northern and southern shores.

The lake's name comes from the Huron Indigenous people's word "oniatarí:io," which means "lake of shining waters," and it predates European settlement in the region. The province of Ontario, founded in 1867, took its name from the lake.

The International Hydrographic Organization — of which both the United States and Canada are members — works to ensure that the world's seas, oceans and navigable waters are surveyed and charted uniformly, and also names some of them. But there is no single international body that determines names of international bodies of water.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to change the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" as tensions with Canada worsen.

Canada is renaming the USA 'Trump is a Rapist". Our PM is currently at the EU requesting they use the new name on their maps.

                    Just read this

Ontario Premier Doug Ford unveiled a billboard on Canada's shoreline with the message: "Lake Ontario. Now and Always."

On the escalation ladder, Trump may demand a bigger sign now countering the Ontario sign. After a couple weeks of tit-for-tat sign works the planet will be covered in huge signs, I'm afraid.

Why is Lake America the smallest of the 5? This is an insult to America. I demand we drain the other great lakes, especially that Superior one.

That was my first thought too. There is an Ontario in greater LA - it has an airport that Trump should rename.

It's not if you take the volume metric. which no-one usually cares about except to justify a silly EO.

Lake Superior should be renamed Lake Canada, since Canada is clearly Superior.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I may need to write to my MP and suggest that Canada rename the US to "Arseholeistan" on all official documents and maps.

I prefer 'Trump the Rapist'. Trump likes to put his name on things.
