I think I'm starting to hate universities. They're so bureaucratic and inefficient all the while being elitistic and detached from the real world. Are they a force for good or part of everything that's wrong with this world? FWIW I have a useless in the real world masters' degree and also have had a shot at PhD but didn't receive any financing.

Some of the rare jobs I've been able to land despite my 100% scam university education have been gigs as a substitute teacher in schools.

Schools are based on fearmongering about what will happen if you don't do well enough, and the teachers also have to take **** all the time (from the students, the principal) and the overall reigning emotion is fear. I've gotten fired 2 times.

It would all be different if the subjects in themselves were so interesting that the schoolkids would willingly show up and learn new things without being forced.

I've seen some of their "common sense". It leads to MAGA/Reform...if someone says they went to the "University of Life", well, the eyerolls it elicits in me are quite something :-D
