  • Serious: Physical or Mental Deterioration

You can't choose, but what is your hope?
I would choose physical, even though mental would perhaps make physical less meaningful.
    What would be your hope?
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Physical. Mental is where my sense of self is. I have taken care of 2 people with Alzheimers/dementia and that was worse than taking care of people with end stage cancer.

I have seen both and both are horrible in their own way.
If it comes to that, I will choose to go on my own terms even though I will "pull the proverbial trigger" earlier if it would be mental deterioration.

EDIT : I hope this was a theoretical question, Sloww.

Certainly theoretical. As I say, we don't have a choice. I was just wondering to myself what the "advantages" of each would be, which led me to asking here.
