Or at least I've only ever had crap "friends". It has been me alone vs. the world all along. But everybody else has friends. Everybody else has each other. And they've denied me a life and the whole world.

You would be surprised how many people don't have any real friends.
On the other hand, a lot of that falls on the individual. It's a lot of work finding a real friend. And if you fail, you just have to keep on trying.

Real friends are great, but IMO rare. Some folks turn out to be just "friends" otoh - in this case I prefer clarity over company.
