most of the crap in the air from Trumps most serious own goals against the US as its president has yet to hit the fan but I'm disappointed that you don't seem to even suspect the danger. Even if we accept that the DOGE cuts were largely unavoidable in the absence of fiscal responsibility, and that the US was at an unsustainable disadvantage in trade (by whichever credible argument) - both of which are definitely debatable- Trump's proposal to tariff everyone and everything across the board, raw materials and finished goods alike is obviously catastrophic for US exporters. Then he proposes to cut taxes in the face of enormous deficits while suggesting that the tariffs will make up the shortfall on a volume of trade that was grossly inadequate to do so even if he could somehow maintain all of that trade at the pre-tradewar levels and didn't subsequently reduce any of the tariffs in his wheeling and dealing. it's insane and the consequences should really start the hit the fan well before the elections.

Maybe Trump derangement syndrome comes in polar opposite flavors and the Maga crowd is demonstrating the most common and severe version of it?
