Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft last week of the US homeland security secretary Kristi Noem’s purse as she ate at a Washington DC restaurant, officials said Sunday.
Noem’s purse was nabbed on Easter Sunday and reportedly contained about $3,000 in cash, her keys and identification

Who the hell walks around with $3,000 in cash?

I mean, besides people making untraceable payments, or conspiracy theorists who don't believe in the credit system.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

If my wallet was stolen I'd definitely have had $3000 in cash in my wallet.

Irony, given that cash is nothing more than a government IOU.

DHS seems to be full of geniuses:

The proposed TV show would see immigrants compete in tasks across different states and include trivia and "civic" challenges, according to the producer who pitched it.

Kristi Noem incorrectly defines 'habeas corpus' in Senate hearing

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem incorrectly defined the meaning of "habeas corpus" during a Homeland Security Committee hearing.
During the hearing, Senator Maggie Hassan said the government is "actively trying to suspend" the protected constitutional right, and went on to ask Noem what it means. Noem replied with a wrong answer saying that it allows the president to remove people from the US.
The senator told her she was incorrect and explained that "habeas corpus" requires the government to present a valid reason for detaining and imprisoning people.
Earlier this month, Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, suggested that the president may suspend habeas corpus to carry out mass deportation without bringing individuals for court hearing.

The sheer dereliction of duty the Senate had to approve appointments of people without even the slightest understanding of the core and relevant principles of their mandate is depressing, to say the least.
