Again, without regime change I think Turkey can be a good strategic partner but anything closer concerns me. Same with China. I think people are far too quick to jump on the "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" without truly considering the full picture of what that is implying and the distasteful dictatorships that means getting into bed with. However, at this point in time, they are proving to be more reliable and consistent, at least from an external perspective and that does make me uncomfortable because I don't feel comfortable with endorsing these regimes as I find them most distasteful. And I say that as someone who is, culturally speaking, a massive Turkophile.
