No, I said there was no incentive for one country to heavily subsidize an industy to offset a specific second country's tariffs when there are alternative exploitable markets.

As I have mentioned before there was always a certain logic to tariffs against China, especially with their market dumping regarding steel (amongst many more) and trying to bankrupt the manufacturing industries of other countries. We would be naïve to think China doesn't wage economic warfare. China is aimed at global economic hegemony plain and simple and you may well have handed it to them on a platter. The play was aligning other countries against China in this respect (again a move that would primarily benefit the US the most out of all but not like the rest of their allies wouldn't get a boost - a win-win situation) - all with the justification (and probably not incorrectly) of levelling the manufacturing playing field.

But this has spiralled into something else. And probably thrown a lot of former US allies into the arms of China. And pushed the rest of the western world to realign without the US.

All because you wouldn't say "no" to this one narcissistic megalomaniac. All because your judiciary was not apolitical in its appointments and became compromised. And here we are, with Trump possibly having an easier time than Hitler in becoming a dictator despite all the supposed checks and balances that have completely failed to contain him. Executive orders with a scope that any banana republic dictator would be envious of. You've sleepwalked your way into despotism.

You explained incentive for generalised subsidies, which was not your original point. So you moved goalposts.

You also chose an industry with huge distortions/differences. Including differences in collective bargaining, restrictions on predatory pricing and structural differences in marketing / incentives to prescribe more costly drugs and how costs are covered through insurance / copay.

Saying that it’s a subsidy driven model is being very selective in assessing the drivers for the price difference for end consumers.
