Trump now "tariffs may cause pain"

To his defense, he didn't say what comes after day one ...
I *really* hope his grand plan for affordable groceries isn't going to turn out to have been 1. raise enough revenue from tariffs to replace all federal income taxes. 2. end collection of federal income taxes 3. taxpayers can afford their groceries again using the take home pay they recoup from not paying taxes. He'd tank the economy waaaay the hell before he would offset all those income taxes. The only way it might even move in the right direction under such a plan is to end taxes by gradually increasing the standard deduction. And we know that's waaaaaaay too progressive (class warfare) for him to ever consider. what a fustercluck this is probably going to become. Get ready for great depression 2.0 It could even hit any day now if he's about to trigger a deathspiral of global trade war.

His plan for cheap groceries is to drill for oil and then eat the oil.

He still hasn't ended the war or lowered grocery prices... But he has managed to raise them and warned Americans that there will be PAIN because of his actions.

Except Mexico just caved and there will be no tariffs so the gamble worked. Mexico agrees to sending 10,000 soldiers to the border to help with stopping cartel drug smuggling and human trafficking. Accept the win and move on.

He shouldn't need to make any trade concessions for that and it sounds ominously like his Mexico will pay for the wall promise. Legalize drugs and the cartels fade away, this is dooming Mexico to more violence and further contamination of the US drug supply by fentanyl.

Is it really “caving” when you get what you want? In Mexico’s case, they wanted and got a U.S. commitment to stop the illegal flow of guns from the U.S. into Mexico. Trump’s win is the political theatre of making him look like the big man, even though both sides got what they may consider an equitable arrangement. Just hide what you gave up and hype what you ‘won’.

Last week, we learned from the Associated Press that USAID (United States Agency for International Development) — the government agency which manages billions in overseas “humanitarian” aid programs — plotted to overthrow Cuba’s communist regime via a covertly-funded fake Twitter platform.

sadly this isn't why USAID is facing scrutiny

Day 15 out of 1461 days.
                          Buckle up.
I predict the really crazy stuff will happen in the 3rd act.
He'll need an excuse to postpone the next election and stay in power.
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

That's certainly a bigger win than when Biden got Mexico to spend $1.4B on improving border security, and all it took him was a couple of points off the Dow Jones and a significant chunk of the US' credibility as an ally and trading partner!

This focus on "winning" whatever the cost is getting pretty absurd...

Yes, a reasonable agreement was easily made. It kind of makes you wonder why Canada's incompetent leader is refusing to do the same.
