  • USB-C -- evil???

Well it's not evil as such, but the way how big tech/big money is exploiting hard-working consumers using it!

    Here's the thing:

Supposedly, you can load your mobiile phone, tablet, whatnot via USB-C without an extra adapter if you just use the USB-C port on your PC.

Great! But oh the horror when you find out that they (THEY!) tend to put USB-C ports on computers at the back side

So they (THEY!) basically force hard-working consumers to crawl towards the backside of their superduper PCs to find this tiny little port. If you have bad luck it's a big tower desktop where the port is located in such a way that the - usually - short USB-C loading cable that comes with moble device would hang down with the device attached to load

Obviously this is a plot by big tech/big money to get folks to either:

    - buy a longer USB-C cable to park your mobile device safely when loading, OR
    - buy an extra adapter to plug the USB-C cable into a power outlet on da wall, OR
    - buy an extra laptop with the USB-C port at the side, easy to reach, and your can put any device just next to it on the table

If you don't believe this is a plot by big tech/big money just ask yourself how big tech/big money became so big!!!

Fortunately I realized this evil scheme years ago, so bought a laptop already. That will teach them

    I have 3 monitors, with 4 USB ports each (3 USB-A and 1 USB-C) just so I don't have to crouch.

Bah, extra USB on monitor is too easy

Finally used my laptop for the first attempt with new phone, but charging via comp is slow (as expected).

I'll get one of those adapters (the one from my old phone has no USB-C)

Seen there are adapters for several types of USB in one - I guess when I buy one my next phone will have some new type of USB not covered yet

Oh my new thingie can also charge wireless. My old phone didn't have that.

But it doesn't seem to work, I just put the new phone next to the power outlet in the wall and nothing changed for hours!

( naaaah -- but good old cable-based is faster anyway)

Just noticed that google security options can be a royal pain if you want to reuse/transfer your profile from old phone to new...

Really? For me it was quite painless.
