  • The US should declare war on Canada today...

    ...then immediately surrender.

President - elect Trump has been joking about Prime Minister Trudeau being the governor of the 'state of Canada'. He has been saying some extremely false things about Canada, including that the vast majority of Canadians want to join the US. (I'm sure he's Putin us on).

If sometime in the next week or so Biden declares war on Canada, and unconditionally surrenders the same day, Canada could void the recent US election results, and appoint a caretaker government.

Then the State of New York could get on with sentencing Trump, and other charges against him could be persued.
America would, in short order, have Canadian healthcare and human rights, and Trump can spend the rest of his life on a chain gang in the deep south.

If Canada times this right they could also get Greenland and/or control of the Panama Canal.

Trump has promised to erase the line between Canada and the US... I think he's been talking to Putin again.

The dumb thing about that is not the offer, but the oddity in saying Minneapolis, which is in Minnesota. He should know basic geography of states neighbouring Ontario better than that, given he is the Premier.

Dude, he's trolling. Trolling is not scored for accuracy.
Granted, he probably should have just focused on Alaska, which is surrounded by, and therefore should be part of, Canada.

What could Trump's game here be? He seems to be building obvious parallels to Putin's revisionist ranting. Surely this is intended to give Putin (who is a great guy right?) more cover? The problem is that seems like it would actually have the opposite effect, underlining just how outrageous Putin's geopolitical claims have been. Could it somehow be Trump is trying to undermine Putin somehow with this play? Could any of this really work if this cringe worthy stupidity only serves to make other leaders less likely to take anything he says seriously?

Throwing sh1t at the walls, seeing what sticks. Not that he wouldn't LOVE to author some imperialist expansion! Boy, I'll bet THAT would impress Daddy Putin.

Also, this whole thing is likely in part just his usual petty grievances. It has been reliably reported that he's actively trying to keep attention away from the 6-day funeral procession and celebration of Jimmy Carter, who had the absolute gall to pass away in the run-up to the inauguration.

I... don't think Trump is giving that much thought to his actions.

Greenland is greed for resources as ice melts and they become more accessible (or so he can have a place to send 12 million deportees)

Canada is just to puff chest before negotiating for whatever he he is trying to get in trade deal.

Panama is probably a genuine concern over China (whether or not it is valid or not)

Non serious sequence of upcoming events:

Summer 2025: Ukraine gets peace after concessions but a U.S. negotiated agreement that Ukraine is under NATO protection

Autumn 2025: US withdraws from NATO

Spring 2026: US lands military in Greenland and Panama to secure key sites. Meets little resistance. Denmark calls on NATO to defend its interests - US now at Cold War with Canada and NATO. U.S. closes Canadian border

Summer 2026: Border skirmishes escalate and U.S. sends troops in make limited incursions into Quebec and BC. Canada calls on NATO nuclear countries to assist with threat of nuclear deterrence. France and Britain refuse. NATO alliance effectively dead.

Spring 2027: U.S. launches ultimatum of Anschluss or hit war - deadline passes and invasion.

Spring / Summer 2027: China invades Taiwan as US is bogged down in Canadian campaign as individual states mull declaring independence from Trump lead US; Russia invade Ukraine and Baltics as no deterrence left.

Just organize a public viewing event of "Vikings" for the Trump admin, esp. the part where them Vikings hit Greenland and go all miserable cuz it's been hard to cultivate. Trump will shy away when he understands summers are rather short for extensive golfing.

What will be the most catchy anti-war slogans in those coming adventures? We had "no blood for oil" earlier.

If it comes to hostilities between the US and Canada I'd go with "no blood for wood"!
