Sloww, let's be real here for a moment. You laughed at the idea that Trump wanted to "invade" his own cities. I shared his own post, which is a deliberately provocative message that compares his stated goal of cleaning up crime and deporting immigrants to literally waging war against the city of Chicago using the "Department of War." You said nothing until Elok mused about the Vietnam War's historical significance and then jumped on that, a much more comfortable subject.

There is no defense for Trump's rhetoric, no explanation that makes that message even close to acceptable, and you know that, which is why you won't engage with it. The best you or anyone else is going to be able to do is distract and deflect by talking about something bad the other side does. Resist that urge. Look at what he said. Allow yourself to feel the uncomfortable cognitive dissonance of knowing the president you support did something wildly, dangerously inappropriate. Don't minimize it. Don't look for an escape. IDK where to say this but it is seriously weird that Tucker Carlson is standing up for the free speech rights of liberals cheering for the death of Charlie Kirk. Yes, Tucker, that is correct.
