By November 2016, Silver had Trump's odds at about 1 in 3, which was much higher than any other supposedly reputable outlet, but still obviously not the likeliest outcome.

Pennsylvania is the most important state so Shapiro is the obvious VP pick.

I have seen a lot of very anti-Shapiro activity from the activist/online left, which had gotten quiet when Biden stepped back in favor of Harris. It might be a reason to go with someone else (Kelly is the obvious, but a lot of the left obviously like Walz better ).

Personally, I would have picked Kelly but, as you said, the value of Shapiro in helping to deliver Pennsylvania (where bother Biden and Harris struggled and she is still struggling) is obvious.

Harris needs to win four states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania) where as Trump just had to win one of the four. That is a tough order. Especially with Muslims in Detroit declaring they will never vote for Kamala if she picks Shapiro. In the end it will all come down to voter turn out and if 3rd parties are allowed to do ballot harvesting of mail in ballots

That alleged "leak" was from a "we support Shapiro" video posted by the Philly mayor on 8/1, denied as "not a leak" by the Guardian on 8/2, and did not dent the MSM. Interesting that you didn't include a link to your source when you posted it on the 4th.
