  • Is SNW the best Star Trek evah?

    1. Looks great
Maybe standard these days, but it looks cool and is really well-made

    2. The crew's great
It's not just the usual suspects, captain, and someone else who shine, all have great moments, not in every episode, but often enough

    3. Modern, but not preachy.

It's totally fun how smart they are in breaking clichés without being annoying. Pike hero? Yes totally super-manly badass Cap, who saves the day when needed.

But also cooks for the crew, can impersonate pirates, and gets some funny not-captain/herolike moments in between. Similar for other crew members.

    4. The new Kirk does a good job, even if he's not a regular for now. Maybe they prep him for something later.

    5. The new Spock does a fantastic job and is regular

    6. All the women are great. Basically the entire crew is. See 2.

    7. It had a crossover with Lower Decks, which I don't watch. But it was fun as hell.

    8. It had a musical episode, which I rarely enjoy, but this one was great, esp. the so-called "K-pop band"

    9. The Gorn! Tho I'm slightly concerned about -or overuse in Star Trek. But the Borg and Worf would approve.

So, I have to say I did not enjoy any recent Star Trek show as much as I do enjoy SNW. Neither Discovery nor Picard (which both aren't bad).

    /fanboy.

I haven't watched it but no, DS9 is the best Trek ever.

That would make Babylon Five better than the entire Trek franchise.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

DS9 was my favourite ST before SNW.

Look, I love babylon 5, but the acting is kind of weak and the story is interesting but all over the place(season 5 is particularly weak). The loss of so many characters hurts it a lot too. Deep Space 9 is quality all the way through to the end, and although I think the main story is slightly less compelling the characters are better. (Quark, Dukat, Garak, Bashir, Dax, Worf)

Of course, the proper order of ST shows is TNG, OS, DS9, ENT, VOY, and then the unspeakables.
