                  Russia may be more dangerous than a simple dictatorship. I think Putin is trying to have it both ways. the legal trappings and infrastructure of a democracy but with personal access to backdoor hacks that ensure it can never get out of his control along with a very high levels of genuine popular support that typical save him from having to rely on his cheats and backdoors to stay in power. With this he also enjoys such high levels of actual legal power that there isn't much a dictator could do that he could not.
